Andy Borowitz writes a humor column for “The New Yorker.”
In this post, he writes about Betsy DeVos and her shaky grasp of math.
Whoever knew the name of the Secretary of Education? Whoever cared what the Secretary of Education said or did?
DeVos is a lightning rod. She won’t operate under the radar. We are watching.

This is a good one, Diane. I so appreciate your work.

As usual Borowitz doesn’t get it. And so, Andy under rates DeVos. He has no concept of the standard error of measurement. Given that this poll has a +/- 15% sampling error, Betsy recognizes that Trump can rightfully claim support from more than half of the country–especially if you exclude undocumented individuals from the sample.
What’s more troubling to me is Betsy’s narrow understanding of education and cultural diversity. She didn’t know what ESSA is. When she asked Charles Schumer, he twinkled and said that it is the first name of a store in NYC called Ess-a-Bagel. At that, Betsy seemed relieved. But she blew it when she further asked–“What’s a bagel?”

Did she even pass elementary school math? Good grief, we’re I. Worse shape than I thought and it was bad enough before this!

Tis comedy, not truth.
(although truth is sometimes funnier than comedy)

The math satire is wondeful especially in the light of real errors in spelling some of her Tweets.

Betsy DeVos should have attended public schools!

Ha ha ha…
This reminded me about my old childhood. The boy, who lived next to my house, was so proud of his achievement – being 60th place out of 60 students in his class on his first year of grade one class! He shouted out with joy and felt sorry for me to be number one in my class of 60 students. My mother and his mother (with tears in her eyes) just laughed out loud for his “!”
Americans will laugh with tears
Foreigners will laugh out loud with pity for American Secretary of Education! According to Paul Krugman, leadership’s ignorance (=education policy) will NOT ONLY hurt leaders (=national certified teaching program), BUT ALSO will hurt all citizens.(=current generation of learners)
Happy Valentines to you, all. XOXOXO. Back2basic

Now we see the value in charter schools and school choice. Perhaps she would have learned basic math with a public education. Let us work to end vouchers and charter schools, put that money into our future,,,, Public Education, and their unions who are the only ones protecting our kids.
