The half that are in fear are the least likely to be the target of an attack . While New Yorker’s who have been the target of 4 attacks of various degrees of success, realize they are more likely to be killed or injured on a commuter train. Or by crime which is at decennial lows.
I am convinced, it was not the Russians but ISIS who hacked the elections to make Little Orange Donnie the pres, who then instills his own fears into half of America.
Just think about it: Isn’t it a dream come true for ISIS to see fear torturing 150 million Americans? Before this idea of making Trump pres, all they could do was to kill a few Americans quickly.
The few thousand $ ISIS spent on teenage hacker kids was well worth it.
Not a full month into the presidency and he’s tweeting in ALL CAPS. Vegas odds that he’ll have a “You can’t handle the truth” moment before six weeks are up just got lower.
Do we have a pool somewhere where I could bet my savings that spring will bring us Pence as president and Donnie will tweet his all caps messages from a nice empty room with padded walls?
Talk about a line in the sand, drawn by the separation of powers of the United States Constitution and concrete by those who understand it and are willing to make it REAL for all of us. This is the REAL-REAL.
I don’t know what the other shoe will sound like if and when it falls, but I’m feeling a sense of deep satisfaction for this wonderful moment in our history. For this moment, we still don’t live in a tyranny but by the rule of law and in a tri-part sharing of power as the foundations of our government.
“Narcissism becomes particularly ‘malignant’ (i.e. malevolent, dangerous, harmful, incurable) when it goes beyond mere vanity and excessive self-focus. Malignant narcissists not only see themselves as superior to others but believe in their superiority to the degree that they view others as relatively worthless, expendable, and justifiably exploitable. This type of narcissism is a defining characteristic of psychopathy/sociopathy and is rooted in an individual’s deficient capacity for empathy. It’s almost impossible for a person with such shallow feelings and such haughtiness to really care about others or to form a conscience with any of the qualities we typically associate with a humane attitude, which is why most researchers and thinkers on the topic of psychopathy think of psychopaths as individuals without a conscience altogether.”
Psychosis (out of touch with reality)
Impulse Control Disorder (can’t resist the urge)
Anti-Social Personality (no conscience)
Narcissism (entitlement)
Malignant Narcissism. This “hypothetical” personality disorder is not listed in the DSM but has been used by some of the greatest thinkers in the field for many years. It may offer the best explanation.
“The malignant narcissist is like a mix of narcissism and psychopathy. However, narcissists need attention and compliments, which psychopaths do not need. Psychopaths are irresponsible and blatant about it; they are highly impulsive, and usually have a history of conduct disorder or a criminal record, both of which are not typical of narcissism. They do not care if they are caught (as long as there are no consequences) and they don’t care what others think of them. Narcissists are more manipulative and deceitful and will lie and deny if caught.
“The malignant narcissist, similar to the psychopath, is willing to literally sacrifice others to achieve his goals. Psychopaths and malignant narcissists are dangerous to others; they are willing to do whatever it takes to achieve their goals… they destroy lives without so much as a second thought. They truly are the personification of evil.”
I think we are all less safe when we let these people into the country (sarcasm ). These look like real terrorist to Donald Those people in South Carolina may be stuck hiding under their beds, till we have a Trump Court .
GregB: . . . not to mention the rule of law, habeas corpus, the tri-part system, and a few of the Amendments. It’s rich.
Did you hear Trump trying to make a distinction between the law and “commonsense”? He HAS NO CLUE. And BTW, EVERYTHING has political implications, but NOT EVERYTHING is motivated by merely political intentions. Again NOT A CLUE.
I think Donald would concede that “common” does not apply to him (although our definitions completely different). And the rest of us would not associate “sense” with him either.
GregB I take Donald’s comment about law and commonsense to mean that he is communicating with his ignorant base (again), talking his way into avoidance of the law (we know that about him now) by calling everything “commonsense” as if, by setting up that false opposition, he CAN DIMINISH THE RULE OF LAW in their mind. Who would go against commonsense? Except of course that it’s common nonsense. He reduces the law to some extraneous inconvenience.
He wants to be like Putin, to get rid of the law in order to consolidate power around his version of “commonsense.” He doesn’t want to share power with either the courts, Congress, or the people.
You have been an inspiration to me over the last five years as I’ve embarked on my third and hopefully last career of being a special education teacher. I read your blog daily. I read Reign of Error and shared it with colleagues. You’ve turned me onto may great colleagues who are writing about education in positive ways. I was very honored that you shared my poem on your blog, too! I have appreciated your tenacious reporting and re-posting on our dystopic nightmare, the 45th President of the United States. However, I would like to suggest something: reframe do not repeat. Do not speak his name. I heard a great interview by Brooke Gladstone of On the Media with George Lakoff a few weeks ago. They talked about 45 and his methods. Lakoff believes, and I agree, that when his name and ideas are repeated they are reinforced. Instead, we should reframe. For example, lead your post with, “Crime is the lowest it has been in 47 years. I have never felt safer.” We should all be doing this, from the biggest level of media like New York Times or NPR down to the most least followed twitterer among us. Reframe, do not repeat!
The “other side” (Trump/Bannon supporters) are just as adamant about their stance as we are. Here’s something from FB that I just read. Someone was saying that Trump doesn’t stand a chance. Here’s the response:
“…you really have to read the whole post to understand it. This outrageous judicial overreach by the leftest court in the land will not withstand SCOTUS scrutiny. Although Trump’s klutz like rhetoric leading up to the delivery of this order is worthy of certain criticism, the order itself is fully legal, precedented and well within the President’s limited bag of tricks. I envision a 7 to 1 reversal of the 9th Circuit’s mistake.”
And that was the most polite one. Here’s another with a bit more “bite” to it:
“…You’re wrong. The President has the ultimate authority to act in order to protect the country. It is not to be second-guessed by a bunch of Judges. The whole process was even wrong. Trump did exactly what he had the right to do, but all that’s going to happen is a bunch of time and resources are going to be wasted so that the Democrats can say they won something. What a disgrace.
You had no problem with Black Lives Matter rioting, looting, destroying property, under the guise of “equalizing” things, threatening police officers, whites, etc. Reverse Racism is still racism, and that’s the hate the libs created.
I’m so impressed with your boring copying of the words that all the Liberals use. Be original why don’t you. Racist? Yawn…”
There were many more replies like this. Regardless of our wishes for a WH shrink, I’m thinking we might be in this for the long haul.
Every time you throw the term “you liberals,” you brand yourself as a biased, alt-right hater of everything to your left and that is a lot considering how far right you are, somewhere north of the moon, I think, or closer to Mars.
For instance, do you have any idea of the number of misleading crap news the alternative fact based Alt-Right hate media machine poured out about the threat of President Obama declaring martial law and taking over the country?
It doesn’t take much of an effort to Google “President Obama martial law” In fact, “The Line of Resistance: The last line of defense published: “Confirmed: Obama Will Declare Martial Law to Keep Trump from Taking Office.”
That’s nothing. 🙂 Obama had a big part in planning 9/11 because he was suspiciously absent from his office that day. Also, btw, Hillary has AIDS because she got it from her husband, who got it from messing around with Magic Johnson.
Mate Point made. I sent that letter to Obama from those psychologists (see link below) to an (to remain unnamed) family member who voted for Trump. Remember that the report was signed off on by several respected psychiatrists and quoted from the DSM what the symptoms of narcissistic personality disorder were. Below is the reply I received from that family member. Needless to say, I was left speechless.
MY FAMILY MEMBER: “As for the article written by those doctors, it is only their opinion about someone they do not like. They are hardly unbiased. I understand from where they are coming. Those points they brought out about Trump fit Obama as well but that is another topic.”
I suspect the Alt-Rights heads behind all these allegations were failed authors who couldn’t get anyone to read their science fiction, fantasy dystopian novels that focused on a new world order based on chaos.
gitapik if these are general samples, it’s readily apparent that they don’t know the law, or the idea of a separation of powers so that we don’t have a tyrant take over (duh). Also, if we listened to talk radio and/or Fox News, and nothing else, then that’s what you get.
Spicer is still saying (today) that all of these other people are paid protesters.
They’ve pretty-much drunk the poison. They’ve been Jim Jonesd.
