The Onion is usually first with the news. Judge for yourself whether it’s real or fake.
At her first meeting with Department of Education staff, she rolled out her ambitious plans.

Here are the first major initiatives. Open the link to read the rest of the plan.
“Modify Title IX to allow invisible hand of the market to sort out any student rape cases that may arise
“Identify at-risk students and do nothing whatsoever
“Ensure that all students, regardless of background, receive the opportunity to bask in the shining light of Christ
“Let low-income parents choose which one of their children gets to go to school.”

I love The Onion! They skate so close to reality at times, it’s almost not satire.
The Onion, and Andy Borowitz, as well.

I think the onion is a comedy site. If you are making serious constructive commentary I’d avoid fake news. – A Progressive Democrat

Chuck,
My readers know that the Onion is a parody site. If you look at the post, it is categorized as “Humor.”
You must be new to the blog. Sorry to have offended you. The rest of us need a laugh in these grim times.

Will follow to the bitter end, if that’s where we’re heading. Ridicule is resistance. That’s why totalitarian states start with killing and imprisoning satirists and comics when they get power.

I hope that wasn’t the one that was supposed to make me laugh today . Usually the ones that make me laugh come out of Trump’s mouth or one of the morons associated with him, when they are dead serious . I will admit that Saturday Night Live has gotten me to the point, that I can’t tell whether I am watching Alec Baldwin during CNN coverage of “LittleHands”
Now every day ,I go for my dose of Dean Baker or the EPI before I check out your blog .
So I found this story hysterical. Of course I again would start crying if it wasn’t so funny .

This morning trapped in the snow, I decided to check out the LI Opt Out site for the first time in a while .Where I encountered this hysterical comment .
“you do know that not only has he known and looked into every issue a President has to be on top of , but he continually has people around him who brief him constantly . I am sure before he ran for President , he knew about our education system . ”
Someone objected when I called the woman who wrote it unhinged . My response was that the language I used was inappropriate, I could not use what I wanted to say on Jeanette’s site.

I’ll go to it. But the thought of the ignorant general getting a question on macro economics at 3 a.m. from the clearly demented President gave me a good laugh. Perhaps Baldwin could do a skit on it.
The visual is great

I can’t help but think, regarding the college rape issue, that the wealthy republicans are just trying to save their own sons and nephews. Am I wrong? Wouldn’t they just love to toss it under the rug so Blaine, Blair, Tiff, Biff, Whitley, Cameron, etc. can continue on to Wall Street? Law School? Why would they try to silence the female students and protect the male students? Disgusting.

Totally love this Onion piece: posted it to mt FB page.
Diane, don’t know how to contact you directly, but have you seen this npr link? Along w/the trumpeted bill put forth to eliminate fed Dept of Ed as of Jan 2018, it says House has voted to throw out the implementation regs for ESSA (yay! That would be the regs John King was busily putting forth for months after ESSA passed, which I already wrote my reps about & begged them not to agree to…)
Blast! It won’t copy/paste! Published by nprEd, it’s called “About that bill abolishing the Department of Education.” Apparently, per the current Congressional Review Act, a new admin can– if it acts w/in 60 days– simply throw out the implementation rules of the previous admin, w/o obligation to replace them…

As usual, a laugh-out-loud Onion article. However, this one point is &, unfortunately, has been true (as most teachers here can probably attest to)for a long time:
“Identify at-risk kids & do nothing whatsoever.”
(Sarcasm alert): It’s a WONDERFUL I.D. program, known as Response to Intervention
(R.T.I.).
