Money, money, money!
Watch who gets richer over the next four years. It will be a bacchanalia that make the Robber Barons look like pikers.
The New York Times reports that Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner is pursuing a big deal with Chinese investors.
On the night of Nov. 16, a group of executives gathered in a private dining room of the restaurant La Chine at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in Midtown Manhattan. The table was laden with Chinese delicacies and $2,100 bottles of Château Lafite Rothschild. At one end sat Wu Xiaohui, the chairman of the Waldorf’s owner, Anbang Insurance Group, a Chinese financial behemoth with estimated assets of $285 billion and an ownership structure shrouded in mystery. Close by sat Jared Kushner, a major New York real estate investor whose father-in-law, Donald J. Trump, had just been elected president of the United States.
It was a mutually auspicious moment.
Mr. Wu and Mr. Kushner — who is married to Mr. Trump’s daughter Ivanka and is one of his closest advisers — were nearing agreement on a joint venture in Manhattan: the redevelopment of 666 Fifth Avenue, the fading crown jewel of the Kushner family real-estate empire. Anbang, which has close ties to the Chinese state, has seen its aggressive efforts to buy up hotels in the United States slowed amid concerns raised by Obama administration officials who review foreign investments for national security risk.
Now, according to two people with knowledge of the get-together, Mr. Wu toasted Mr. Trump and declared his desire to meet the president-elect, whose ascension, he was sure, would be good for global business.
Since the election, intense scrutiny has been trained on Mr. Trump’s company and the potential conflicts of interest he will face. But with Mr. Kushner laying the groundwork for his own White House role, the meeting at the Waldorf shines a light on his family’s multibillion-dollar business, Kushner Companies, and on the ethical thicket he would have to navigate while advising his father-in-law on policy that could affect his bottom line.
Gosh, don’t you wish you were invited to that splendid dinner? I have never tasted Chateau Lafitte Rothschild. Only $2,100 for a bottle? Wow!
No worries about funding schools or nutrition or health care. Just greed.

While we certainly need to hear of Trumps latest, Its so frustrating. The problem with all of these reports about Trump’s wrong doings, shady deals, clear conflicts of interest, outright lies and bizarre tweet addiction is that he could not care less what is said about him or how disgraceful his behavior is. He has no shame whatsoever, so it seems like an exercise in futility. What is the goal? Sadly and dangerously, nothing is going to change. He is still going to be leading this country for the next four years with a cabinet full of people who are completely ill-equipped, including many who have absolutely no experience in the jobs they will be doing. Much like having a cartoon artist design and build a bridge. Or appointing a pastry chef to run a massive financial institution. None of it makes sense, but we are all completely powerless to change it. The whole thing is surrealistic and it is just hard to believe that we are here.

It’s not that we’re powerless to stop him, it’s that we keep getting distracted catching the vapors over every single outrage, when Trump’s intention is to be as outrageous as possible. He’s leading people around by the nose and loving it. Trump is who he is, that’s not going to change by getting our daily (hourly?) outrage fix. The only thing that’s going to change anything is focusing on moving forward and stopping the policies he plans to implement. We need to unite, but that’s not going to happen if we don’t stop hyperventilating about “Russia hacked the election!!!!” [sic] (Another way we’re being led around by the nose.)

We MUST contact all of our legislators, Dem and Repub, to get rid of Trump ASAP. The Repubs are becoming upset enough at his endless self serving and crazed routines that they are ripe to be approached to file impeachment proceedings.
Trump has violated the “doing business while President” law, and cutting our losses is the only way to go. Can you imagine the disasters he can present us with in a 4 year period? He MUST not be allowed to have the nuclear code…and he MUST not be allowed to have his family working in the WH, or all the other insane behaviors he is pushing for.
Even Palin is waking up according to the LA Times today…and some of his top appointments are fighting with him. Blondie Conway and Fascist Bannon must not be allowed to help the Rump/trump to completely destroy America. It is all beyond disgusting. Michael Moore wants an invasion-size presence in DC on Jan. 20 as he told the world yesterday.
I would welcome Zuckerberg or Mark Cuban as Prez. But not Ted Cruz…or any of the other true fascists like Pence. But we cannot let Sessions by AG…and we must shout as loud as possible for bringing a prosecutor in to get rid of this whole dangerous crew. NO to Tillerson who is Putin’s close busom buddy and monetary ally. NO to all this. We cannot roll over and let it happen.
I try never to use ‘MUST’ but cannot see it any other way. Never in our history have we faced this kind of grifter and crook.

Sign my petition today if you agree it is morally wrong for Republicans to repeal the Affordable Care Act and take health insurance away from millions of Americans.
I want you to read this story, Ellen Lubic:
“My four-year-old son was born with Cerebral Palsy. When the Affordable Care Act was enacted, I was so relieved because I knew there would always be a way for my son to have healthcare coverage, even if I lost my job. Knowing that the Republicans want to repeal without replacing brings anxiety and loss of hope to our family.”
And this one:
“Being enrolled in the Affordable Care Act has been the most important factor in us getting our new small business off the ground. Because health insurance for my family is now affordable, we have been able to grow our business, contribute to our retirements, enroll our kids in sports and activities, and participate more fully in the local economy because our money is not all going to health insurance and copays… If the law is dismantled, I am very worried we will lose our business that we have worked for six years to build. Before we got on our ACA insurance, we were paying over $1,000 a month and depleted our savings completely.”
Since the Affordable Care Act was enacted in 2010, more than 68% of our state’s uninsured individuals have gained access to the quality and affordable health insurance they need — and a 129 million people across the country who would have been denied coverage for pre-existing conditions have access to health care.
As Attorney General for California, my office vigorously defended our nation’s health care reform — and I intend to do the same now that I am your U.S. Senator. I recognize that the Affordable Care Act isn’t perfect, but there are millions of people relying on us to fix and reform the law, not repeal it.
Please take a moment to read some of the thousands of stories we have received over the last few weeks about why the Affordable Care Act matters to so many working people, and then please sign our petition demanding the Republicans end their attacks on the ACA.
“Obamacare is the reason I was able to finally get help for bipolar disorder, which went untreated for six years when I couldn’t afford insurance. During those six years, my struggle with mental illness took a toll on my relationships, work, and school. Not only did Obamacare make insurance more affordable for me, but it guaranteed that my insurance carrier could not deny me coverage for behavioral health. I credit the treatment I received with helping me to mend relationships with family and friends and lending me the stability and support to finish my Master’s degree and find work. If Obamacare is repealed, I could potentially lose access to insurance due to a preexisting condition, have my insurance price dramatically increase, or lose access to the psychiatric care and medication that has benefited me so much.”
“My son graduated from college. As he looks to find a job and a career it is a relief that he can stay on our health insurance for a while.”
“My 24-year-old old son is a full-time college student who suffers from debilitating cluster headaches. Thanks to Obamacare, he is able to remain on our medical insurance to receive treatment. Without it, he wouldn’t be able to afford his medication, which costs $800/box without prescription coverage. Nor would he be able to continue receiving Oxygen therapy, which provides him a drug-free, pain reliever choice so he can attend his college classes.”
“Prior to the Affordable Care Act, I had been without health insurance for 20 years because I could not afford it.”
“A few years before Obamacare existed, a loved one of mine in grad school with a pre-existing condition was unable to get insurance to cover the urgent treatment he needed. There’s no greater pain than watching someone close to you suffering needlessly, and seeing their life upended after a medical emergency. No one should have to worry that we won’t be alright when the unexpected happens.”
“Our 28-year-old daughter is passionate about her work with an educational non-profit organization. However, it has so few employees that it does not offer any health insurance. The ACA made it possible for her to purchase affordable health insurance and she is covered. Otherwise, she would have no health insurance at all.”
“My sister suffers from an incurable kidney disease. The medications she takes are expensive, and, before Obamacare, her insurance wouldn’t cover the number of pills she needed to take in a day, much less the whole month. She was uncoverable by some standards as she had a preexisting condition. Since Obamacare, she has been able to gain health insurance and keep herself from going into debt just to pay for her medications. People like my sister wouldn’t survive without Obamacare.”
“I am a 55 year old, self-employed, single female with epilepsy. Prior to the ACA being put in place I paid $1000/month to be covered by Kaiser (the only insurance that would cover me because of epilepsy.) The ACA has allowed me to start saving a little for retirement.”
Click here to tell House and Senate Republicans: do not take health insurance away from millions of Americans by repealing the Affordable Care Act >>
It would be a national disgrace if our country stripped health benefits away from the most vulnerable among us. Instead, Republican leaders should do what the vast majority of Americans want: work with Democrats to advance commonsense reforms that will improve the law, not callously try to repeal it.
The success and failures of the ACA are not statistics or dollar signs, they are real people with real stories who are counting on us to do right by them.
I promised during the campaign that I would be on the frontlines of this fight if elected, and now that I am here, that is what I intend to do. Together, we will lead the resistance against any short-sighted legislation intended to gut our social contract for future generations.
Let’s get to work. Fight on.

The business ventures of the Trump’s is set to be disclosed before the inauguration after a delay. Every administration has to meander through the same obstacle course. When Obama was inaugurated a few of his family members profited from their proximity to him. Michelle’s mother now has a $160,000/year pension because she helped with the children … that NEVER happened before. One of Obama’s brothers received an expedited 501(c)(3) designation, signed off on a Sunday no less, while other organizations that had applied before him are STILL WAITING for their application to be acted upon.
That deal does multiple things for schools, although you may not be aware of it. By maintaining, or raising, property values TAX REVENUES grow. Part of those revenues go to schools as revenues. Well valued property DRAWS IN MORE WELL VALUED PROPERTY and thereby RAISES TAX REVENUES FOR SCHOOLS. The business revenues that result are even MORE REVENUES FOR SCHOOLS. Then there are employee tax revenues, another piece for schools. Get the picture?
Just because someone asks for a meeting with the prez, does NOT mean they will get it. Unlike the Clinton Foundation I have yet to see any influence peddling. If they were not influence peddling, their funds would NOT have taken such a nosedive when she lost the election. As a matter of fact and contrast, when Eric closed his foundation at the end of 2016 100% of the funds went to St Judes Hospital for cancer research and cancer treatments. The hospital was very appreciative and wrote a letter to that effect.
Regarding their choice of food … the operative word is CHOICE. I am sure if the wine tasted badly they would not be drinking it. If you can afford it why not. That wine provides jobs, tax revenues, etc. All of which benefit schools. At least they are not conducting themselves like one of the U.N. reps from Africa someplace that eats like that and then proclaims that everyone should be eating more bugs in order to combat hunger.
When the pilgrims first came to America they tried the communal, socialist existence. Everyone worked to fill the coffers. Then when distributed you got a share whether you put anything in or not. It soon became clear that some healthy people were not doing their share of the work, but getting an equal shears of the benefit. The number of “takers” only increased … never decreased. By the second year they realized it was a dismal failure. There are always those that if they know they will get what they want without working for it WON’T WORK FOR IT AT ALL.

Trump is making billions right now. Has he disposed of his conflicts of interest? Did his children? Are they still making deals with foreign countries? The day he takes office, Trump will be in violation of the emoluments clause of the zconstitution. Please don’t tell me you care about the Constitution when you overlook Trump’s refusal to cut ties with his businesses.

I know of several holdings that have been closed. Isn’t the whole process due to be laid out on the 15th? You are stating things as fact that only liberal media sources are claiming. Do schools no longer teach the importance of factual sources?
Trump has been a successful businessman … that is a good thing. He knows how to get a job done. Did you ever see any of those “shovel ready jobs” that Obama promised? His employment numbers were pathetic. The methodology for computing the figures was changed. If the previous method was used his unemployment numbers would be seen for what they were … the signs of a dying economy. Even the numbers he had were fake. Most economists agree that as much as 80% of the “new” jobs created were ONLY PART-TIME JOBS.
Unless you can do the job better you are relegated to a supporting role. If you can do it better then you had better run for election. The decision is yours, are you going to be part of the problem or part of the solution?

Have you seen Trump’s tax returns? He has multiple bankruptcies and billions in debt.

The returns cover some 12,000 pages. Which begs the question … why we’re Hillary’s taxes so puny? She owns over 10,000 accounts listed on the HSBA and PANAMA PAPERS (secret off shore accounts to avoid paying taxes) and none of them appeared on her tax returns. Trump’s name appeared as well on about 5,000 accounts. He does not own those accounts. He sells his identity to others to use then he basically gets a royalty.
Think for one minute … Trump’ s taxes are being appealed so the IRS has them. If there was info that would have hurt Trump the IRS would have issued some kind of statement that they could be released to increase pressure on Trump. The agency has been silent … so maybe there is a greater chance their release might have caused more serious inquiries about Hillary’s taxes.
