Stephen Dyer wonders why Donald Trump chose to visit one of Cleveland’s lowest performing charter schools today.
He finds it odd because Cleveland has some high-performing charter schools.
So why would Trump visit a school with an F in the most important performance metric when he had plenty of much higher performing options? Perhaps it’s because the school he’s visiting is run by a for-profit company called Accel Schools Ohio. Accel is an imprint of Pansophic — a charter school firm started by K12, Inc. founder Ron Packard. Packard has an infamous reputation for political gamesmanship.

Trump has hired “Omorosa” from ‘The Apprentice’ to head his African American Outreach committee. While I didn’t watch the show, I know she has a reputation for being nasty, and manipulative. Trump’s visiting a charter school because, as everyone knows (eyes rolling), all charter schools are by definition miracle schools, even when they are failing. Kind of like the statement: everyone’s equal but some people are more equal than others. Orwell and Kafka are howling from their crypts. As others have pointed out, the REAL public schools do not exist for the political class in this country, of whatever party. Charter schools are the silver bullet, the panacea for the supposedly “evil” union controlled public schools.

Leon, the Democrats have not controlled the country for fifty years. If you think that, then you are an ignorant fool.
Since 1966 (fifty years ago):
3 years between 66 – 69 – Lyndon B. Johnson (D) left the white house in January 1969. LBJ actually served a total of about six years but we’re only looking at the last fifty.
about 5 years -Richard Nixon was a Republican and he served from1969 – August 1974 when he resigned to avoid being impeached. He didn’t have an affair with a White House intern. Instead he spied on the Democrats (breaking the law) when he was linked to the Watergate break in and an attempt to cover it up. He also defied Congress and ordered unauthorized illegal bombings in Laos and Cambodia where the U.S. dropped more bombs than there were people.
about 3 years – Gerald Ford was a Republican who served from 1974 to 1977.
4 years – Jimmy Carter was a Democrat who served one 4 year term and was defeated by Ronald Reagan who served for eight years until 1989, and the U.S. is still suffering from his failed trickle down economics. Reagan, a Republican, cut taxes on the wealthy and added billions to the national debt. Reagan was president for EIGHT years.
4 years – George H. W. Bush was another Republican president who only served one four year term and he added a few billion more to the national debt. He left the White House in 1993.
8 years – Bill Clinton, a democrat, served for eight years until 2001. Under Clinton the national debt hardly grew at all.
8 years – George W. Bush, a Republican, served until 2009 and he more than doubled the national debt, started two wars and was the President when the 2007-08 global financial crises hit. He also is responsible for bailing out the banks and Wall Street to the tune of almost $1 trillion dollars. This Republican president just handed them hundreds of billions of dollars, a blank check, with no requirement that they pay it back. That program was called TARP.
8 years – Barack Obama will leave office in January 2017. As soon as he was sworn in as president in January 2009, he froze TARP payments to banks and required the auto industry and the banks to pay back every dime the govenrment gave them and from what I’ve read, the did.
So, in the last fifty years, a Republican was president for 28 of those years and a Democrat for 23 years.
What about Congress?
You’ll have to learn that answer on your own but I already know you are wrong again. The Democrats did not controller both houses of Congress for the last 50 years. Click the link and discover how ignorant and wrong you are. Are you really Donald Trump? You sound as ignorant as he does.
