New Jersey Commissioner of Education David Hespe will step down and be replaced, at least temporarily, by his deputy.
New Jersey is only of only five states and D.C. that still administers Pearson’s PARCC exams.

At least he wasn’t blown to bits by an anti-aircraft gun.

The vindictive governor of NJ just tripled the weight of statistically useless CRAPP exams in teacher evaluations.

Teachers in grades 4-7 whose students participate in the PARCC math tests or in grades 4-8 whose students take PARCC English exams will have 30 percent of their rating based on students’ performance on the tests, an increase from 10 percent, Deputy Education Commissioner Peter Shulman said in a memo to schools.

Christie has a long way to go to catch Lord Cuomo. ALL teachers must use test score results for 50% of their final evaluations. The majority of teachers will be evaluated using scores of subjects and/or students that they do not, and in many cases did not ever, teach.
Many districts are now putting virtually EVERY TEACHER (K – 12) on the SAM SLO.

SAME SLO.
Requires tremendous willpower to suspend your disbelief. Your brain will continue to tell you this cannot possibly be happening.

You will likely find yourself facing the same end game as Denver where there are now so many problems, so few teachers, and an undeniably growing achievement gap, but the same “expert” reformers (with little to no educational background) repeating their mantra of the need for MORE REFORM and MORE TEACHER BLAME over and over and over….

This is a surprise, it was not on the radar. I guess Hespe got an offer he couldn’t refuse, the chance to make millions in the private sector. I’ll be interested to hear what Jersey Jazzman and Bob Braun have to say about this.
