Troy LaRaviere, principal of Blaine Elementary School in Chicago, was removed for insubordination, though no one admits responsibility for the decision. Certainly not Mayor Rahm Emanuel.

The removal of this popular and accomplished principal for speaking out for children, for public schools, and for teachers – is just one more example of the fascist-like tactics that reformers must resort to in order to push their agenda. If their policies and plans and programs were valid and hopeful there would be no Resistance. Principal LaRaviere is a selfless and fearless example for public school administrators everywhere. If more principals and superintendents spoke out, the decline of the test-based, privatization movement would come to an end sooner rather than later.
