Sorry for the mixed messages. I reported earlier today that our great friend Joe Bower, a wonderful educator in Alberta, Canada, had died of a massive heart attack. Then I learned he was on life support, still alive.
I have just learned, sadly, that Joe has died. This was confirmed by his family.
Please google his blog “For the Love of Learning” and enjoy the thinking and insights of this fine man.

What a wonderful tribute to Joe Bower if your readers could connect to his blog: For the Love of Learning
He was an eloquent, insightful educator.
Joe made me think about grading practices a lot. I always thought of him as a young, very passionate teacher, willing to stand up to the traditional methods with a lot of research (and that passion), and his strong belief in doing the right thing for kids. My heart goes out to his family, friends, and students. The world has lost a great educator.
By the way Diane, I came to know you through Joe!
I am so sorry to hear of Joe’s passing. I big thinker. He will be missed.
Thanks for your life and work, Joe, you beautiful and brilliant man. You helped me see the truth, and I will carry on your legend.
I am truly sorry to hear of Joe Bower’s passing, a passionate great teacher. RIP.
So sad to have such a great thinker, teacher and leader pass too early. My sympathy to his family and the community of educators who care enough to want to make a difference through their hard work and sharing. His ideas will live on through his legacy: words, family, students, and contribution to the important work of his life as a classroom teacher.
Baruch Dayan Ha’Emet – May his memory be an eternal blessing.
Joe Bower contributed great commonsense ideas to K12 educators everywhere. He will be missed.
