Professor Janet D. Johnson and Brittany A. Richer of Rhode Island College surveyed teachers in the state about their reactions to PARCC, the federally funded test of Common Core standards. Their goal was to allow teachers to voice their assessment of the assessments.
The study can be found here.
Teachers are the experts when it comes to teaching and learning. See what they say.

So proud of my RIC colleagues. It is nice to develop evidence of the effects of PARCC in Rhode Island that can be used by our new commissioner as he begins communicating with our state legislators about the fate of these tests.

One should be very careful before using such a survey as evidence for massive dislike of PARCC tests, or anything else. The sample was self selected and by no means random. It can however be considered as a very good reason to conduct a statistically meaningful investigation.

Rhode Island teachers-thank you! This paper was insightful, well researched, and right on target for the way that teachers and students are feeling on testing.

Didn’t they just get Ken Wagner from us here in NY? Good news, they won’t have to bother themselves with thinking about it too much.
