Looking for summer reading?
Here are two good new books about the Common Core. They are well-written and informative.
Terry Marselle has written a research-based review of the standards. The title is: “Why the Common Core is Psychologically and Cognitively Unsound.” His book is available on amazon for FREE on Kindle from June 1-5.
Mercedes Schneider has written a political analysis of how and why the Common Core standards were written. It is called “Common Core Dilemma: Who Owns Our Schools?” It will be published by Teachers College Press.
As the Common Core becomes more important in our schools, these books will be essential reading.
I’m looking forward to reading these.
This is perhaps my favorite (or at least funniest) video about Common Core:
And I have written a novel which truly gets to the “heart” of Common Core. I wish you would read it, Diane, and feel the message from a brave teacher who continues to teach, despite administrative threats. It’s THE GEOGRAPHY BEE (Amazon). Dr. Marie Fonzi
I hope the author puts out a paperback soon. Without going into detail, I’m not reading e-books any more, and I’m willing to pay for a reasonably priced paperback. It isn’t that difficult through Create Space that belongs to Amazon.

Hi Diane,
There’s also an amazing collection of essays about Common Core in a book, Common Ground on Common Core: Voices from Across the Political Spectrum Expose the Realities of the Common Core State Standards. It features Chris Tienken, Tim Slekar, Sandra Stotsky, Mary Calamia among many others. It is well-written and argued. The beautiful thing is that it brings together people of all political backgrounds to fight for the common good of our children.
