Governor Mike Pence signed the bill to permit the state board to elect its own chair, which currently is the state superintendent Glenda Ritz. This nonsense is billed as a “reform.” The children of the state will learn more now that the board appoints the chair.
Of course, this is nothing more than a continuation of Pence’s vendetta against Ritz, who won more votes than he did in 2012.
Given that history, she is a natural candidate to run against him in 2016.
Go, Glenda!

While I am by no means excusing Pence (who is a vile something-I-can’t-print-on-Diane’s-blog), I will point out that he only signed the bill. The Indiana legislature had to pass it first.

If you support Glenda Ritz, you’ll encourage her to remain right where she is in the superintendent’s seat, where she can continue her work. Glenda is an educator, not a politician. If she were to run, Indiana’s Republican machine would chew her up. Prepare for that video of her walking out on the SBEO meeting to be aired on an endless loop with the message that she’s not fit to lead. Glenda simply does not provide the best chance to get Pence out of office.

The woman running for Lieutenant Governor on the Democratic ticket last year made a great impression on me and many others. It was stated by some that she would have been a stronger candidate than the Democratic male running for governor. I do not know is she plans on running this year. The man who ran last time has announced that he will run again. He would be better than Pence – who wouldn’t – but I was less enamored with him than with his running mate who seemed to have a fine grasp on what is happening in eduction and other important issues.
Maybe???
Glenda Ritz has given an indication that she might run. Whoever runs against Pence will have an advantage. Pence has dug himself into a deep hole – even by Indiana standards.

People like governor pence only like democracy when it ends in their favor. We see this in Washington too; when a group doesn’t like how an election turned out they refuse to vote on appointees, pass laws, or do any real work. Our democracy(now an oligarchy) is in serious trouble,

Big government overreach is ugly and always abusers the people, the democrats are very good at it ( remember the walk offs a couple years back)and the Obama administration is especially guilty of it! By the same token, two wrongs never make a right, abuse is abuse!

Glenda Ritz is a National Board Certified Teacher, and she knows what she is doing. “Governor Ritz” has a nice ring to it.

I keep pondering and asking myself a few questions in the past 40 years of working and learning relentlessly without finding a suitable and logical answer.
I hope that any veteran educators in this website will guide me to find an answer for my question.
What does the “”STRONG”” (= MIGHTY) in Plato implicate? If human being is made of body – mind- spirit, but if all will die when time is up, then being STRONG or MIGHTY is meaningless, valueless, and frivolous to life on earth.
Therefore, what benefit (or motive) that drives the INDIVIDUAL or RACE with foolish ambition of wanting to become the MIGHTY without acknowledging their consequences of their bad deeds in terms of karma? And isn’t it the worst for SUBMISSIVE SERVANTS who blindly follow the mighty for a crumb of valueless material in the short period of time on earth?
Thank you for guiding me with your wisdom. Back2basic

May,
If I may attempt to answer your two questions.
Those “driven to power”, especially in the USA do not have the “religious” concept of karma in their being other than for karma being short hand for “what goes around comes around” or “one reaps what one sows”. And, if anything, for christians, means that any consequences will be administered when they are dead in heaven or hell, which for all practical purposes means there are no consequences.
Those “SUBMISSIVE SERVANTS”, what I call GAGAers, generally are so afraid of those in authority that they tremble at the thought of questioning much anything at all except what they may wear on a given day, what mind numbing TV program to watch and which beer, wine or hard liquor they choose to help that TV program anesthetize their being. Tis quite sad, but unfortunately true from my observations. Their “freedom” exists in having myriad meaningless choices that work in a circular self reinforcing numbnutness that serves to keep the peons/serfs timid in a cowardly and frightened mode of being.
