Most of the time, we engage in covil discourse, even with people whom we know are rigid ideologues whose minds are blted closed. but every once in a while, someone opens a window and yells out, “I’m mad as hell, and I’m not going to take it anymore.” And they say what’s really on their mind.
Rep. Brian Sims did that in Pennsylvania recently. He called out the conservative Comminwealth Foundation after he received a mailing from it. He wrote on his Facebook page:
“See, I already know that you are all racist, homophobic, sexist, classist, ableist, anti-American, bigots whose single driving motivation is to secure the wealth of your multimillionaire donors at the expense of every single working person and family in the Commonwealth. See, I told you I already get it so you don’t need to waste money sending me proof…actually go ahead and waste that money!”

Oh, that’ll raise a welt …

Anyway, Diane runs this blog single-handedly, very often from her mobile devices. She publishes upwards of five posts a day (usually many more than that), chock full of valuable information, as well as different perspectives to be aware of and opinions to chew on and debate. Unless you’re volunteering to be her unpaid assistant, I think you can tolerate a few typos/autocorrects.

I don’t know how anyone can post anything coherent from a mobile device, which is probably why the younger set has invented an acronym language for the purpose.

Total admiration for Brian.
The charter ads for Electronic Classroom of Tomorrow (ECOT), owned by a big Republican donor, show a couple of high school students who say they are too scared to walk to their neighborhood school. If the Ohio Republicans provided funding to communities, by taxing corporations and wealthy individuals, instead of giving companies, corporate welfare, Ohio might have safe communities.
As an honor, to the founding fathers, we need a federal law that prohibits states from bribing companies. Competition, among states, drives down taxes on multinational corporations. Those same companies outsource jobs, destroying the fabric of the United States.

In my state, one of the “Utah Connections Academy” (a Pearson product) ads shows a kid that was SO amazed with literature and “individual attention” from online school that she becomes a teacher. As if. By the time that fictional girl becomes old enough to be a teacher, teachers will no longer exist. The sickening irony of that commercial.

Pennsylvania is lucky to have a representative like Brian Sims. Finally a politician unafraid of telling it like it is. I love, love, love Brian Sims!

I agree! I am writing that I agree because sometimes we aren’t aware of the numbers who do agree because we agree in our hearts and heads but don’t put it in print for others to feel the massive swell that is growing. We need to feel our power in the number of voices that are heard and read in these spaces.
