The superintendent in affluent Néw Canaan, Bryan Luizzi, changed his mind. A few days ago, he said that students were not allowed to refuse to take the Common Core tests. After parents objected and signed a petition, he realized that students have the right to opt out.

I’m thinking the number of professional parents and the amount of wealth there might have also had something to do with it. What was the Fitzgerald quote? “The rich are different from you and me.”

Knowing something about the town due to my relatives former association with New Canaan, I wonder how long he may have been Super unless he stood down?
