From her lips– education is not an “industry” or “sector of the economy” where markets work. Wowzy.
Does this mean that most of her academic work has been based on a premises with no merit? Yes, in my humble opinion.
Interesting prior to the 50 minute mark is her non-response to a question about the intersections of academic achievement, so-called soft skills, and demographics. She gave a muddled response, ending in relabeling so-called soft skills as non-cognitive. Her naivety about education and arrogance about what may rightly be called “non-cognitive” is demonstrated.
Because economists have not measured whatever those softy fuzzy no-thinking thingys are– there are no (credible) answers to the question. The question was asked by a savvy member of the audience.
