Does anyone know if Lauren Powell Jobs, Steve Jobs’ widow, is going to be one more billionaire bankrolling privatization that we’ll be up against, or might she be someone with a conscience?

Unfortunately, Laurene Powell Jobs has thrown her weight and money behind the Billionaire Boys Club. She funds their campaigns to promote privatization of public education. Billionaires seem to live in a very rarified atmosphere and talk only to each other.

More on Laurene Powell Jobs: she is a member of the board of Teach for America and the NewSchools Venture a fund, which underwrites charter chains. According to an article in today’s NY Times, she was so impressed by Davis Guggenheim’s “Waiting for Superman,” that she asked him to make a documentary about immigration. WFS was anti-public education agitprop, the video bible of the privatization movement.

Ugh. How depressing. So amassing super-extraordinary wealth seems to be synonymous with relinquishing one’s heart and soul. Just wish we could find even ONE exception!
