Pete Dominick has a regular show on Sirius-XM called “Stand Up! with Pete Dominick.” He invited me to discuss the state of education every Monday morning at 7:35 am EST.
This was our first conversation, this morning.
Pete has children in public school and is very concerned about over-testing. He is right.

A regular radio spot: What a fine opportunity! Thank you for accepting the offer, Diane.

I’d make a spectacular guest! If you agree with opting out of these ridiculous standardized tests, please help.
I am compiling statistics for my book TEACHING IN 2013. I AM A PUBLISHED AUTHOR OF 4 BOOKS, INCLUDING “THE QUIXOTIC TEACHER.” PLEASE HELP AND…PLEASE TAKE THIS POLL:
DO YOU AGREE WITH STANDARDIZED TESTING FOR CHILDREN?

1. I volunteer in 8th grade math for at risk kids in Austin, TX. I agree
WAY TOO MUCH TESTING and too little practice.
2. Will the Sirius/XM broadcasts be available online later?
Math is both understanding and practice. The gifted don’t need as much
practice. The other 90% do. I am in the 90% category.

This is great news. I don’t have Sirius, but I know Howard used to be very pro teacher, so you might want to drop by and say hi.

He still is, but he is mostly interested in guests from the entertainment biz.
