Leonie Haimson and I have written an article in the current issue of The Nation about Mayor Bloomberg’s 12-year control of the public schools.
The article unfortunately is behind a pay wall. If you can find a copy at your newsstand or library, I hope you read it. You will find a perspective quite different from the tabloids.

I clicked on the link and got directly to the article. Thank you.

And let’s not forget his interference attempts–directly from birth! (Trying to have hospitals lock up baby formula, so that NYC babies would all be breast-fed babies!)
Bloomberg’s legacy (he thinks) is that he has been a benevolent dictator (delete benevolent, however–keep dictator, pure & simple.) NYC=Nanny York City!

He is, to quote a fellow commentor, the quintessential villainthropist . . . .

Bloomberg’s legacy is nothing less than poetic . . .
Ode to Bloomberg:
B . . . . Bastard that he is, no matter how you look at him.
L . . . . Luring big business while ditching the middle class.
O . . . . Oligarch, like what you found in the 1920’s.
O . . . . Omnipotent, which is what he insists he is.
M . . . . Mean spirited, as in the villain you love to hate.
B . . . . Bossy, Biased, and Brainless about education.
E . . . . Elitist, but only about money, not about real talent or merit.
R . . . . Rabid and foaming at the mouth as he dismantles the working class.
G . . . . Greedy, grotesque, his gremlin’s visage, growing profits and gangbusting unions
