Yes, another explosion at the JFK museum a half an hour ago…hours after the other two. Subway and bridges closed. This does not appear to be an accident or gas explosion.
Thank you Stephen Lafer for being one more courageous enough to put his real name on his posts. You are right that it has not been verified as a terrorist attack, but my guess is that you will be wanting to pin it on the tea party in some way or skinheads, rather than on a middle eastern man of 20 tackled by a boston citizen. We MIGHT have a Richard Jewel situation here, but I doubt it. This has the barbarity to it of Islamic radical terrorism. You echo the President’s “caution” in his statement today. Always glad to meet a supporter of Obama so I can confront him about his assumptions.
You make assumptions here that you have no valid reason to make, that I wanted to pin something on someone. That is the very problem that makes for a problematic aftermath to every rotten even that occurs, making it considerably more rotten by those who want to make use of them to push their political agendas. Jumping to conclusions is terribly dangerous, particularly in a free society where information is available be it bad or good and people have access to the means to take things into their own hands, as demonstrated by the culprits here, and those who might want to take them out.
True, oh nameless one. It might even be, oh if only, a white supremacist from a prison drug gang. We must not rush to judgement just because it has Alquaida-like finger prints on it—packed to maim and kill children. Oh, but the Islamic world has justification for striking back at the U.S. that way. Right?
We don’t know that for sure. There is a chance – albeit a slim one – that this was a targeted attacked against a specific runner. For instance, a jilted boyfriend who wanted to give his ex a very public F-U.
And even in the more likely case that it is terrorism, we don’t know whether it’s foreign or domestic. Yesterday was tax day, after all, and the attack was in Boston. Terrorists usually like symbolism, and I really don’t think al Qaida cares much about our internal tax system.
Guys this was a terrorist attack. The bombs were not mistakenly set there. Look at the news. This was a decoy it is way to small. A good general would be placing troops in major cities like dic and vegas. Put troops in Boston but not all of them this one was to small way to obvious.
Watch your “Beloved Obama” try to slither out of responsibility for this security failure after he has been encouraging it by playing nicey nicey with our enemies. I’ll bet he NEVER calls it by its right name: “Islamic terrorism.” But then, that’s standard for liberals, never calling things by their right names. “Oh, how can you be so heartless Harlan, as to bring up your stupid politics at a time like this. CHILDREN were killed. This is no time to be thinking.”
If any good will come out of this it will scuttle the whole gun bill. If the government can’t protect the citizenry, they might just want to have a gun of their own to protect themselves.
“You are the most cruel, stupid, insensitive, disrespectful person I’ve ever had the misfortune to run in to. Why don’t you just shut up and blow away. There ought to be a law against speech like that.”
Diane, I know you don’t like anything that smacks of censorship, but this blatant politicizing of a tragic event that is hours old is just sick and hateful and really has no place on a blog like yours. Any chance you’d consider removing it?
“Cowardly”? I put my name and face on here. You don’t. Yes, that’s my real complexion. A gun would be useful when an escaping terrorist might try to enter your home and hold you hostage. Or enter your Mercedes Benz preparatory to a terrorist run to New York City. Capish?
I am watching the news this morning, and many parents are speaking of the anxiety their children are feeling from this tragedy. Many also mention Sandy Hook, and how for children, this was their September 11th. Many children are reexperiencing the return of feeling unsafe in the world. They are worried about what may happen next .
Today is also the beginning of state testing in New York. Sadly, there will be no time to suppport kids who might be a bit fearful and worried. Protecting the emotional hearts of children will surely will be put on hold, as the requirements of the day cannot be ignored. Adults, in all their wisdom, have erased humanity from the world of childhood. My heart weeps.
It is all unimaginable that in a country like ours this nonsense is continuing and their words of advice are rip off the bandaid and throw them in the deep end….but not their kids. They don’t even recognize their own stupidity.
This is almost three weeks old now and I don’t get the connection between your comment and mine. You seem a bit touchy. No of course no one wants you to die. And yes writing about your political beliefs and ranting about Obama and slithering away appears insensitive and self serving when people had just been murdered.
Careful please. That this was a terrorist attack has not been verified.

Multiple devices were present. The timing and the locale to me say that it was definitely terrorism.

One thing we can be careful about is stating what kind of terrorist, demostic or international, it could be either.

So until we know more, why don’t you just zip it?

Absolutely will not remove it.
Anytime someone plants 4 bombs set to kill and maim crowds, that is terrorism. Motive doesn’t change that

OK, I’ll bite. How’s a gun gonna protect you from a bomb? Nevermind. You should just take your cowardly comments over to the blaze.
