Your kid’s information leaks out of schools like a sieve, and the marketers are there to catch all the drops. They build profiles of kids and households, and they come back year after year for more information. They are relentless. This bill would help a lot but would not interfere with legitimate activities.

Thanks. I wrote it so it could be used as general policy as use by school boards. I’m still working on it. Need to add oversight & enforcement. Should have that completed within the next couple of weeks.

The Georgetown Law Journal had a completely different view of the government’s right to collect individually identifiable data in the federal unit record system. They seem to have a hard time distinguishing between the government’s interest in such data and their right to collect it. I don’t think the terms are synonymous and the public needs to start cluing those in DC into that fact. http://georgetownlawjournal.org/files/2012/08/13Custer.pdf
