Diane. My first teaching assignment after graduating college was at Washington Irving HS when it was the last all girls public high school in NYC. Not sure if I can make it out to NYC from Southold that evening, but I do want to add my voice against the charter takeover of public spaces. The school has a special place in my heart.

It is unconscionable that Bloomberg & his corporate privatizer friends are trying to destroy a great school like Washington Irving.
Quality public education is the most crucial institution in our democracy, and they are trying to destroy it.
There is a special place in hell for them.
