I promise this is the last thing I will post about the charter referendum in Washington State until there really is a final tally.
Someone sent me what she thought was a final tally but it was NOT a final tally.
The votes are still being counted.
The election is close. The charter advocates were ahead but there are still hundreds of thousands of uncounted mail ballots.
We still do not know whether Bill Gates and his friends have won.
I won’t send out any more bulletins until there is a verified final count.
This one is meant to say: Don’t give up hope.
The fat lady has not yet sung.

Funny…or the smart lady has not finished this blog post yet….YOU!

There are 600,000 uncounted mail-in ballots from 2 counties. One of the counties is King County which Seattle is a part of.
We are keeping our fingers crossed.

And the results are…. Drumroll please………………………………………..
Still too close to call. 755,000 votes left to count and “No” is 45,679 votes behind “Yes.”
Glad I spent the day yesterday calling back no votes who hadn’t turned in their ballots yet. We wait and see.

At the last reporting today, Washington’s secretary of state lists 625,000 ballots yet to be counted. With many thousands processed today, that reflects the number of ballots postmark in time & added to hte count, minus those processed; a net increase in uncounted ballots. At this rate, we may not be done until he middle of next week.

If I-1240 passes, newly elected Governor, Jay Inslee, will find ways to thwart it to allow time forf the lawuits to be filed. This initiative violates our state’s constitution, plain and simple. The next step would be the courts. I feel optimistic after all. Children are our future, not a commodity for privatizers to rip off.
