This morning, I made a contribution to Marie Corfield’s campaign. She is a teacher running for the New Jersey legislature. She will be a thorn in Governor Chris Christie’s side as he slams teachers and their union and tries to cut their pensions and destroy public education.
Jersey Jazzman reminds us here that you can help without sending any money. You can help by asking the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee to help her. Just click on the link. I did that too.
Folks, Marie needs help NOW – it won’t cost you a cent and it will take literally one minute! Read about it here:

Just tell the DLCC to support Marie’s race – that’s it! Again, it will take one minute, it won’t cost you a thing, and it will annoy the heck outta Chris Christie!
All my fellow teachers, I’m asking you to step up on this one. We need to let this great teacher and great candidate know that we take care of our own. Please do this by Tuesday, when the DLCC nominations end.
Thanks!

Done. Thanks for bringing this to our attention. It was easy to do and took about 60 seconds.

Many campaigns also have virtual phonebanking set up – where you can make calls for the candidate from your home on their dime (even if you’re out of state). I don’t know if Corfield has this set up, but for people who want to contribute with time rather than money, it’s another option.

Done! Anyone else you suggest we support? Cause we are in the mood for a fight (but not the violent kind, you know the verbal, political kind where we say one thing and you say another and we have facts and you have…. I think you get the picture).

Bravo Marie!!! I live in New York, but I can certainly send a contribution. I have been thinking about running myself!!
I would love to ask people that are running for office who are in support of Charter Schools to reveal if they , their spouses , or office aides/ interns are invested in Pearson Publishing. I would love that to become public information.

Done. Exciting. I have long felt that teachers need to run for the political positions they are attempting to influence. TFA does it!

Thank you all. I can’t tell you what a difference it would make here in NJ for Marie to win.

Done! Now if we could get more people who “get it” to run for office…

Why is replacing legislators a better strategy than educating them? Do the legislators grasp what their oaths of office entail? Are high school graduates able to discern which candidates are best able to fulfill their oaths of office?

Done! Thank you, Jersey Jazzman. I am in N.J. several times a year, admire the N.J.E.A.
(DESPISED “The Cartel”–!!), & love their ads (wish our state EA would do them–they tell us,”But the N.J.E.A. membership pay more dues so that they can do that!” We don’t believe them!) Keep up the good work!
