Jersey Jazzman is watching Education Nation so the rest of us don’t have to.
He says that teachers are more outspoken this year than in the past. He thinks they are emboldened by the Chicago strike. They are mad as hell and they won’t sit still while non-educators bash them.
He reports that one fellow got up and made a brash statement about the success of his school.
Let’s begin by saying that real educators don’t brag about test scores.
Be that as it may, Jersey Jazzman checked the sources and discovered that this particular school has a very large attrition rate.
With more fact-checking like this, reformers might be reluctant to make boasts.
We should all do it.
But this time around, I am leaving the job to JJ.

Glad we will have someone keeping us up to date. I have better things to do on a Saturday night! 🙂

Thank you JJ….I couldn’t watch today. I had a ton of schoolwork and I didn’t want to ruin my day. I heard on Melissa Harris Perry someone mentioned the high attrition rate at KIPP. NBC is a joke…I am done with them.

Thanks for representing Jersey..JJ I have 5 hours DVR’ed. No decision on when I’ll watch. Have to do a bp check first. I saw a few minutes on the MHP segment on students. Two of them were very impressive. I’ll wait and see what you have to say. On behalf of the team and teachers everywhere…..Thanks!

You couldn’t pay me enough to sit through that nonsense…I spent much of the day outside enjoying the great weather.

I accidentally turned it on briefly but took a moment to tell my children how much I don’t like Michelle Rhee and Joel Klein before we changed the channel. My 12 yo asked why i dont like them and my 9 yo explained that those are some of the people who want to pay teachers according to how well the students do on the tests and “how ridiculous is that!”

Thanks for taking the hit for us Jazzman. By the way, I enjoy your blog too. I’m afraid I’d wind up debating the t.v. What did Lincoln say about arguing with fools….

If these mainscream media pundits had any journalistic integrity at all they would get back to work trying to recover the journalistic standards they had before they become corporate concubines and stop pretending to be authorities on things they don’t know diddley squat about.
Like I said … if they had any journalistic integrity at all …
