From a reader in Maine:
I’ve always thought that teachers should suggest a better approach–Getting a percentage of their students’ incomes after high school graduation. The logic is that teachers who add value will produce students who make more money; therefore, to align incentives property, the teachers should get a cut of the incomes from their graduates.
Just think how much Steve Jobs’s estate owes California’s teachers! 🙂

Hah. Or Bill “small class sizes don’t matter once me and mine are done with school” Gates, or Mitt “vouchers and charters and tax cuts, oh my!” Romney, or…the list goes on.

Both Mitt Romney and Bill Gates attended private secondary schools after going to public elementary schools. I am not sure how to decide the credit between the two systems.

Diane,
I’m not sure how to contact you any other way, but I thought you might find this article about DODDS schools interesting: http://www.educationworld.com/a_issues/issues349.shtml
My sister and many friends work in DoDDS schools in Germany, and have been wonderfully happy there for many years. Maybe they do have part of the answer to successfully educating students. What are your thoughts?

Success measured by income level. Sounds like the greed that has already corrupted corporate America.
