A supporter of cyber charters wrote to say that many activities occur in a physical setting, not online. In response to our exchange, a teacher posted the following comment:
K12 Inc has the largest student population of all online cyber charter schools in the US and this is what they want from a PE/Health Teacher:

Other teaching positions are similar –“Virtual” means teachers do it from home. I know because I taught at an online school owned by them for four years. While their office was not far from me, I never went there even once, nor was I required to go to any other bricks and mortar location. Faculty and department meetings and PDs were conducted online and in conference calls.
So, how exactly does one teach physical education online?! The absurdity increases daily!
Dumb, dumber, dumbest!
The job description wasn’t even specific to phys. Ed.
Lehrer, you do not understand how you can teach PE on line? Clearly you are not a PE teacher. I am very close to one, and can tell you how easy it is. There are two ways. One, each kid hooks themselves up to the computer, by some sort of wireless electrodes, and then the Gates sponspored galvanic measuring devices can measure every single body function (of course this makes me think of the movie Clockwork Oragne, but what do I know?). Two, what the heck kids need PE & play time for? How will that help them land a good job? How does that help them fill in bubbles on a standardized test? Next thing they are going to suggest is standardized art tests. Oh wait they are already trying that.
no mention of actual teaching of Physical Education in the Physical Education job description
I taught online PE. I had a student state they ran a mile in 3 and a half minutes. 0 accountability in online PE programs
Wow! I wonder how I could teach choir online. Hmm.
No more sweaty kids in a classroom. I’m thinking of those school days in August!
