Well be careful now…..the TFA pitbulls will call this reprehensible and make the leap that Mark is stating that TFA kills children.
It’s funny, but not really, because if they want to see reprehensible they can just take a look at their “leaders”. It is much closer to home than they will ever realize.
Rhee is truly the queen of reprehensibility.
Once again I ask…with at least five or six KIPP schools in NYC why are the Kopp/Barth children not enrolled in these no excuses miracle schools?

I think that a lot of people who participate in this blog probably didn’t send their own children to non-selective enrollment inner city schools. If you want to know why, probably better to ask them than waiting for an answer from the Kopp/Barth families.

No…we don’t promote a charter chain while also pulling in placement fees supplying said charter chain with temporary inexperienced teachers who leave every 2-3 years thus increasing the need for more teachers and therefore additional placement fees…this is a never ending cycle of revenue.
That IS the bread and butter of the Kopp/Barth venture, so I would like to know whey their kids do not attend if it is okay for other
people’s children, especially when they have the choice of many KIPP schools to attend.

I always thought the president and the legislature brought us the Vietnam war.

President Truman brought us the “Truman Doctrine” of defending European countries facing Communist led internal insurgencies. President Eisenhower, with the help of his Sec. of State John Foster Dulles & CIA Director Allen Dulles, brought us the Eisenhower Doctrine of adding the Middle East and Southeast Asia to the list of regions in which we would defend countries facing such insurgencies.
The Dulles brothers crafted covert operational tactics that led to the overthrow of democratically elected leaders in Iran and Guatemala because we didn’t like the socialist nature of those governments. The same tactics led to the creation of a non-Communist, American backed regime in Vietnam.
Truman’s & Eisenhower’s decisions were strategic planning. The Dulleses at work was tactical planning. McNamara’s proposal was also tactical planning on how to implement the president’s strategic plan.
One of the major components in the opposition to the Vietnam War was the socioeconomic nature of the ground forces, made up mostly of poorer class American men who could not obtain draft deferments that protected them from conscription. Hence the analogy Naison makes to the nature of the schools and the instructors involved in the TfA endeavor.

I am in my 10th year of teaching and I spent one year in one of those high performing charters in DC. I left because I knew that I would never send my son to that school or any school like it. The students did not go on field trips before testing! I found this to be an abomination that here in the nation’s capitol, these kids were not being exposed to the free monuments and museums that our city had to offer. While my 5 year old (at the time) could take me on a tour of the National Portrait Gallery and Smithsonian Natural History Museum.

This is called, “Putting head in butt.” So much can be learned by going on field trips right in DC, no less. What backward thinking. Actually this kind of action shows kids that there is nothing one can learn from museums, galleries, all that is available. Too bad WAR comes before education. Oh, forgot, the military is recruiting in middle schools and getting these parents on their side. How awful.

Given that it’s the Christmas season and that I have just finished watching “It’s a Wonderful Life”, I think these rheeformers also have a touch of Mr. Potter in them. George Bailey says it best:
“You sit around here and you spin your little webs and you think the whole world revolves around you and your money. Well, it doesn’t, Mr. Potter. In the whole vast configuration of things, I’d say you were nothing but a scurvy little spider!”

Mr. Neisen, you are so correct in your statements. TFA has morphed into something bad for children and for the country. Would you want an untrained person working on your Mercedes or house? I don’t think so. Then why is it OK for your or more particularily their children? Even if it is not your children, their children directly effect you and your children out in society. We all live in the same areas and they are accessable. This is all a plan to destroy “Real Public Education” in order to destroy our society for their personal benefit in “He who dies with the most toys wins” world. This is all a big power play and money is the tool to power. If you want a world of slaves, serfs and the elite you have to destroy the “Great Equalizer” which is “Real Public Equitable Education.”
