Chris Christie was head of the Trump transition team and probably hoped to be named Atttorney General.
But two of Christie’s top staff were convicted today in a scheme to block traffic on the George Washington Bridge as punishment for a Democratic mayor who refused to endorse Christie for re-election. The scandal was called Bridgegate. Observers are watching to see if Governor Christieis arrested.
Remember his speech at the GOP convention? Remember how he got the crowd to shout “Guilty!”
Guess he was talking about himself.

Lock him up!

Not a very good day for the “big” governor, was it? He reminds me more and more of former multi-term Michigan governor, another guy who looked like he belonged in a Mafia movie rather than the governor’s mansion, John Engler. And his political career pretty much tanked when he couldn’t help GWB carry the state against McCain in the 2000 primary. He who promises and can’t deliver does not get appointed to powerful national office.
Probably irrelevant to Trump unless he wins on Tuesday. And if he does, why fire Christie for just acting like the political thug he is? Trump, as we’ve been told, sees himself as bulletproof and in this regard no doubt is right: he isn’t concerned with perceptions of not doing the right thing, and the media has helped paint the picture of him as so volatile (not saying it’s untrue, and regardless, his image from reality TV is that of a capricious “tough guy” who delights in firing failures is well-established), so he may keep Christie on just to be contrary or show that he doesn’t fear public opinion, or at least not that of segments of the populace who won’t support him.
Does Christie deserve to be indicted? Of course. But this Ft. Lee incident is just the cherry on top of the sundae when it comes to reasons he is unfit to govern and belongs in prison.

Sadly none of our politicians whether republican or democratic these days are accountable for illegal actions and that includes some awfully libelous reporting from the journalists as well as partisan actions of supposed officials held above “partisanship” standards as in the FBI! Candidates … notoriously and especially… the great “orange-headed candidate” …get away with slander at every turn while nary a word is said to stop this. So Chris Christie will probably be awarded the “Nobel Peace Prize” in these crazy, mixed up, topsy turvy “black means white” times… ughhh… Sure hope Christie’s republican convention words come back to haunt him (should he be found guilty) as he reflects on his actions from a jail cell. Ever wonder how many lives may have been lost by this large-scale traffic jam? Were there doctors heading to work, ambulances tied up unable to reach hospitals etc??? Is this ever factored into the “Christie scandal equation”?????
If (GOD HELP US) Melanie does become First Lady… she should focus her first childhood bullying efforts on the two biggest MAN BABY BULLIES in our nation – Christie and her own hubby TRUMP!!!

Can you imagine the amount of double dealing and mayhem that could be inflicted on our nation from these two toxic twins?

I agree. WHY isn’t this directly at the boss’ feet? I actually feel kind of bad for the two staffers–they’re taking the blame that should be Christie’s. Like the mob, I guess, which it seems like Christie has replicated in New Jersey state government.

It’s too early to know if Christie will face prosecution and go to prison. That depends on evidence and/or witnesses who make a deal with the prosecution.
It is often a challenge to take out the king pen of a political machine or crime family, because they use others to do the dirty deeds and separate themselves from those who actually do the crimes. Usually, the king pen will have someone else hire the people that break the law so there are multiple layers between the top and the bottom, sometimes several layers to the actual perps.
President Nixon is the perfect example. He claimed that he didn’t know about the Watergate break-in,but his own tapes revealed he did and that is why he resigned to avoid being the first president to be impeached. Without those tapes that recorded every call and conversation Nixon had, he would have gotten away with his lies and deceit. Nixon provided the evidence because he never thought it would be used to convict him of his own crimes.
To get Christie, the prosecution must have witnesses willing to speak in court or evidence like wire tap recordings from police and/or FBI investigations.
The evidence must prove beyond a doubt that Christie knew what was going on and approved it, and any politician that rises as high as he has knows what to do to keep that evidence buried and out of sight. Sad to say, the odds are in his favor unless someone facing prison time makes a deal and turns against him.
Christie will remain, in the eyes of the law, innocent until proven guilty in a court of law and not the vigilante court of public opinion that’s often wrong and punished the innocent along with the guilty.

Christie, in support of dragnet surveillance, boasted during the GOP primaries about being a U.S. attorney on 9/11. NBC picked up and mythologized the claim saying “Christie was locking up terrorists on Sept. 10 and 11”. (Christie’s tenure as U.S. Attorney began in 2002.) If political terrorists ever took over a main artery in the U.S. transportation grid for days, I’d want a U.S. Attorney on the case….wait.

The fact that Christie is tied to Trump is enough reason for New Jersey voters to vote for Hillary.

I’m a NJ resident who never voted for Christie, so don’t blame me. I voted for the lesser evil, Corzine, initially. Then for the 2nd term, I voted for Barbara Buono who was betrayed and stabbed in the back by her own party and by many high profile power broker Democrats. Many top NJ Democrats openly supported the loud mouthed bully; I don’t ever remember anything like that happening before in NJ, i.e., Democrats betraying their own candidate and supporting the GOP candidate. Unprecedented! As everyone here knows, Christie has been a curse for public education in NJ. I can’t wait for him to be gone from the governorship.

Trump has a long history of labeling his enemies and competition with the adjectives that describe his own behavior. He shouts “wolf” and “the sky is falling” repeatedly and so loud that his easy to fool deplorables believe him and distrust the traditional media. The deplorables only believe what flatters their demigod and anything that hints at the truth of who Trump really is, is labeled liberal bias and lies without any attempt at fact check.
