A blogger called Education Alchemy wrote a post about some of the new board members in Maryland. Maryland used to be a reliably liberal state but it elected a Republican governor. He has moved swiftly to appoint conservatives to the State Board. The board will soon appoint a new state superintendent. The governor is pro-Common Core, pro-charter, pro-privatization.

With all the deforms in education, I wonder what kind of education and schools deformers got? I am sure this is easy information to compile. Did they go to PRIVATE schools forever and have no clue about the importance of free, equitably funded public education for all. I have no problem at all with private schools. Private schools are private and should not receive public funding…same for charters. Charters are not public schools no matter how ya cut it.

Please note that the former super Lillian Lowery was a Broad Academy grad appointed by Martin O’Malley in 2012.

Democrats lose Maryland now. And Illinois. Stay the course, Democrats! Pretty soon they won’t have to worry about running any of those pesky “states” and they can be just 100% think tanks 🙂
