Why is it OK with some politicians to opt your kids out from getting vaccinated but not if you don’t want them taking a standardized test?

Sort of like the GOP lawmakers who want no maternity coverage under ACA – no abortions, no social services when they’re born, and no medical coverages in utero – choice only exists when “they” want it that way! And it’s all for the kids… (snark)
ANSWER: Because the fake reformers from the White House and oligarchs board rooms on down have convinced themsevles that they NEED the artificial results of the flawed bubble tests as fraudulent justification for getting rid of transparent, democratic, non-profit, public education and to replace the public schools with substandard corporate Charter schools that are secretive/opaque and are operated for a profit leading to lots of fraud and lies—not to teach all the children.
Follow the money. There is no large corporate lobby pushing vaccinations. They’re being lobbied by small, noisy, not well- funded right to choose groups, if at all, about vaccinations. Groups pushing vaccinations aren’t doing much for politicians campaign chests. So money-wise it’s a wash and they go with the ideology.
Testing, on the other hand …
Unfortunately many Democratic and Republican elected officials often contradict themselves. They say whatever they need to in order to get maximum donations and then they do the bidding for those (usually large corporate doners) who own them. I am for all parents having the right to make well informed decisions for their children. I am against any attempt to force vaccination or testing on any family. We should also “opt-out” of an addiction to the corporate and corrupt two party system (really a one party system) and start voting for Green Party and independent candidates who don’t take corporate money and who live and govern by moral and ethical standards.
I agree with you one hundred percent but morons would argue that by voting Green you are simply throwing your vote away. I never understood that ass backwards logic but hey to each his own.
Opting out of testing does not harm other people’s children. Opting out of vaccinations has the potential to.
Do some research. Vaccines in many instances are only twenty percent efficient at preventing the illnesses they are designed to eradicate. Many of these vaccines have irreversible side effects once administered. I suggest you speak to parents whose children have suffered some of these debilitating diseases as a result of these vaccinations. If I had children, I would not want the government telling me what I had to put in my child’s body. Just look at all the drugs that are approved and branded as safe while the makers of these drugs knowingly hide the truth about complications associated with these drugs. These immoral bastards do so because the profit potentials of these drugs are so grand in the scheme of things that even with the potential lawsuits the drug companies will still rake in billions. Are these the people you want to trust with your your health and safety? In regards to state testing, I don’t care what Pam Stewart or any other crony has to say about the matter. I will opt out my child of any test I deem harmful to the well being of my child plain and simple! No politician in the world can or will make that call for me.
It is good to be skeptical of science, but do so with reasoning, not internet blogs. Yes, drug companies and corrupt politicians lie. Scientists can be bought. But vaccines have sound research behind them and do work. I do not know any parents of children who suffer from debilitating disease directly linked to vaccines as the attributed cause. Neither does Rand Paul. So I can not talk to them. But I can talk to older adults, my 101 year old grandmother is a great source, and they still relive the fear and trauma of measles, polio, deadly flus, and many of the various diseases that swept neighborhoods. A bacterial ear infection could be terminal. Having one or more children die in a family was almost expected. Everytime someone sneezes, my grandmother crosses herself and says a prayer. But what rights would you afford the parents of children on immunosuppressive drugs, cancer, and other health problems the ability to protect THIER children? What if failure to address these diseases allowed them to flourish and mutate into deadlier, untreatable forms?
I think the current outbreak of measles is pretty good proof, that the vaccine works.
Do you have children or not? You say “if I had children…” And then “I will opt my child out…”
I was just saying this the other day! My state, Utah, is looking to make opting out of the standardized testing more difficult, but lets anyone opt out of vaccinations. I guess the state is fine with parental rights as long as it doesn’t affect their pocketbooks, or the ability to shame public schools and therefore get more charters opened….
I lack reasoning? You are too funny. Research the topic and get back to me and I will address your comments. By the way, catch up on current events Rand Paul got vaccinated with the media there as witnesses due to all the pressure he received for his stance on vaccines. In addition, just because you don’t know anyone who hasn’t suffered any complications from vaccines does not make you correct on the matter. In fact, I made this same point on a local paper’s website a few days ago and naysayers such as yourself were spouting the same pro vaccine rhetoric. However, after sometime three or so people posted in the comments section of that particular article that their children had suffered various debilitating conditions as a result of vaccines. Science can be bought just look all the GMO garbage we are being practically forced to consume, and deemed as safe all in the name of science.
If the “debilitating condition” you are talking about is autism, that has been thoroughly debunked. There are just as many cases of autism in populations that don’t immunize (for instance, the Amish, certain immigrant groups, etc.) as there are among populations that do. People think their child has gotten autism as a result of the vaccine, but that’s only because the most noticeable symptoms of autism start around the same time as kids receive the vaccine. Correlation is not causation. No reputable scientist has ever found a link between autism and vaccines.
I am one of the few U.S. children born in 1961 who was not given a smallpox vaccine, and my uncle was one of the few born in 1956. That’s because we have eczema, a known contraindication from receiving the vaccine, and our pediatrician was wise enough to know this. Yes, there have to be medical exceptions made, but you seem to be saying that exemptions do not have to be approved by a physician. That’s just foolish. As Robert Tellman pointed out, mass opt-outs endanger everyone. Also, I was raised by my great-grandparents, born in the early 1900s, and heard all the stories MathVale refers to. And some illnesses we inoculate for, such as tetanus, are still fatal today if contracted.
Real One. I think you lost it. Vaccines are not perfect, but nothing is. Vaccines are researched, revised, improved. Administration of vaccines is deliberate and monitored. I did not say there were no cases of bad reactions to vaccines, but it is not widespread. The focus should be on identifying those cases and alternatives, not eliminating vaccines or diminishing their effectiveness. I have researched vaccines and studied scientific method. Yes, there is a risk. But exposing my children or an infant to deadly diseases is a greater risk. My bet is if we have another Spanish Flu, the anti-vax crowd will be the first ones storming the CVS minute clinics for a shot and screaming about government not doing its job.
Have a nice, virus-free day.
Since when did I say that you lack reasoning? I’m confused.
I think s/he’s responding to MathVale above, but just got it in the wrong place.
That is directed at me. I suggested using reason and not relying on the blogosphere.
Stupid questions should be answered. It’s a waste of time. And that’s a stupid question, talking pointed by Arne Duncan or one of their wordsmiths.
You sir a sheep. If I ‘ve lost it you never had it to begin with. How can you be so ignorant? Open your eyes the truth is there turn off MSNBC and dig a little deeper you obtuse obnoxious stubborn fool. You are placing people into categories right vs left pro vaccines vs anti vaccines. You have been divided and as a result you WILL be conquered. So keep your Spanish Flu and the reason I so wholeheartedly lack. Stupidity is costly and you will figure that out soon I just hope for your sake it’s not too late.
People in my state who don’t want to vax, use a religious exemption (anyone who feels like it can use this excuse, just submit a letter and you’re done). I think the reason they don’t want to do away with this exemption is because they don’t want to weaken the choices one can make in the name of religion.

Finally someone who is open to common sense and not just what is spewed by the media. The Doctor in this research was going to speak in Australia about the potential dangers of vaccines when she was silenced and not allowed to proceed with her conference. Big money will always silence the voices of truth and reason. Even Bill Maher whom I rarely agree with acknowledged that vaccines are not what they are cracked up to be. People wake up and do some homework before you comment on a subject. Our very own immune systems are way more potent and fighting off diseases than any man made vaccine. You are being scared into compliance by a media that is owned by the very same people you come to this blog and complain about on a daily basis and now on the subject of vaccines all of the sudden you trust them?
“Our very own immune systems are way more potent and fighting off diseases than any man made vaccine.”
The vaccine doesn’t “fight off diseases”. It helps “our own immune systems” to “build” better means of fighting off the specific pathogen for which it is made.
This is fantastic! Thank you for sending it. I also suggest that people check out Dr. Larry Palevsky’s webstie http://www.drpalevsky.com. He is a very brave pediatrician who knows a tremendous amount about the dangers of vaccination and about what makes children truly healthy. His newsletter and lectures are astonishing and I suggest everyone to attend at least one of his lectures (he is NYC based).
Not true Duane follow the links above and read the literature. These are Doctors who are brave enough to speak out about the truth and they are being threatened with revocation of their licensees for doing so. Does this sound familiar? It is the same thing we are experiencing in education as teachers. I don’t blame you for your stance on vaccines because frankly we have been programmed to believe all of what is regurgitated by the media but dig a little deeper and you will see that vaccines are not as effective and safe as they seem to be. Just be patient and look in the right places and the truth will be revealed. Have a good day Duane.
Spread the word Daniella its the only way the truth be be revealed to the public.
