Another star in the corporate reform, teacher-bashing firmament goes dim.
Tom Luna, author of the deservedly malligned Luna laws, is not running for re-election.
The Luna laws were vintage corporate reform, but were soundly overturned in every county in red state Idaho.
Luna is known for his devotion to online learning. His campaigns always attracted generous support from the tech industry, and he in turn made it mandatory for high school graduation.
Quid pro quo.
Soon to be a movie called “Dim and Dimmer.”
But not starring the likes of Jim Carrey and Kathleen Turner.
😎
Dimmer and dimmest (or “diminished?”): maybe Tom Luna and Tony Bennett could take their show on the road?
The sequel may be as bad or worse. The Albertson Foundation’s influence is found everywhere in education in the State. From a Leadership center at BSU to grants to districts, to promoting school choice and TFA. The foundation has pushed hard for the use of SchoolNet a data system. The recently resigned assistant state superintendent tasked with getting SchoolNet implemented, came from the Leadership center to the SDE and has now returned to the center. The foundation funds Idaho Education News which often prepares press releases used by local media. Just within the week, the State’s largest newspaper has published two reader’s opinion pieces supporting Common Core. Articles in opposition are almost certain to mention the Tea Party. In addition every day, TV viewers are exposed to the “Don’t Fail Idaho” ads that make the state to be populated by a bunch of losers.
