My editor at Knopf is one of the best-known figures in the publishing world.
Knopf is the most distinguished publisher in the U.S.
They will be publishing my new book in the fall.
It will explain everything you wanted to know about the corporate reform movement.
Here is the news.
The title is: Reign of Error.
The subtitle will knock your socks off.
I will release that later on.

I hope Micheal Moore reads it and decides to make the ed reform movement the subject of his next documentary.

Where is Michael Moore in all of this? Where is his future documentary on education?
Diane, have you and Bruce Baker thought about contacting his production company? A major mainstream documentary should be made about the righting the wrongs of all of this corporate reform in education . . . at least exposing its ills. . .
Maybe it can have a catchy title, like “Arne and Me”.
I am in the process of contacting Michael, but I am figuring he will respond a lot sooner to you, as you and Bruce are in the public eye!
Why not use your celebrity to persuade him to make a film, much like Oprah used hers to promote Zuckenberg’s largesse to the Schools in the City of Newark, New Jersey? Only, unlike the billionaire-in-a-bubble Oprah, who I believe has never featured you on her network or show (when she still had it), you’d be utilizing the mainstream media to promote public trusts instead of private, arbitrary donations.
What do you think?

yes definitely, a Michael Moore exposé movie would be some much needed PR to help expose the de-formers

I actually met Michael Moore at a Leonard Cohen concert in Brooklyn a month ago. I introduced myself. We had a five-minute talk. I have my fingers crossed. He is interested. Lets all send him tweets. Write him. Call him.

I just sent Mr Moore a link to this blog and a plea to look into the hoax!
(Yep, it did knock my socks off…way to call it out!)
Perhaps if many of us write, tweet, FB him?
Also love the E. Morris idea! Please try to get him interested, too!

Diane et al,
I am SO on it! I am psyched . . .
I will do everything I can to get this talented auteur to make the film. My wife’s cousin is Errol Morris, who made the Oscar winning “The Fog of War”, and Errol’s politics are really great. I was thinking of contacting him as well, but I think Michael’s films are far more mainstream. He is the premier documentarian for the average, everyday person. He is one of the great film media voices of the 99%. . . .

BTW, let us all know where you’ll be doing a book signing. .. please! I can’t wait to read it. Catchy and clever title!
Congratualtions on its release, Diane. Students majoring in education now are required to read your last book in so many universities. How fantastic is that! The pen is mightier. . . .

I love the pun, but I’m afraid it’s not terribly accurate. Errors can be corrected. I’m afraid this has all been intentional and I doubt we’ll see any corrections any time soon – at least until we hit rock bottom.

BTW, I should add, I plan to buy it anyway at the first available opportunity – let us know when it’s available for pre-order.
Congratulations!

Unless it refers to the error inherent in any statistical model, especially VAM. In which case, those errors really do reign these days.

VAM is certainly riddled with errors. But the fact that it is the evaluation method of choice for the rheephormers is no error.

Pathetic Ken….something tells me you don’t see and hear kids everyday.
In the USA those who think they know it all are the furthest removed from children, teaching and learning. How sad for our country.
Diane, keep us informed of a pre-order date and a book tour schedule.

I don’t know. I think it would be “collaborative” of us (and fun) to create a contest to guess the subtitle! (kidding!) Although I’m in the mood today to jot down a few beauties. I’ll be bald at the end of this particular legislative session in FL! As you can see, I’m already punchy.

I recognize many of the posters above and second their motion to pre-order now!
And I resurrect my suggestion [prompted by other comments] of 1-18-13 made in response to Diane’s blog posting “My Good News.” It follows below in abbreviated form.
For all the posters and viewers of this website: How can we thank Diane? Easy. She has no billionaire backers to buy up hundreds of thousands of copies of her forthcoming book [to distribute free to unwilling readers] and land her on the bestseller list.
We can do it. This blog gets a huge number of views. So buy a copy for yourself and … buy one for another willing reader or two. The majority of posters here … are not very interested in the ‘show and tell’ of having it in people’s hands: we want people to read the book, think about it, talk about it with other people, use it to help galvanize action to defeat the separate and unequal educational schemes of the charterites/privatizers. Agree with it, disagree with it, but continue the discussion of how to achieve a “better education for all.”
I plan to buy a copy for myself and two others. How about y’all go with this one plus two plan? [End of excerpt]
I have a feeling there will be a lot of takers!

For all my friends spending Father’s Day weekend writing their research papers, Diane Ravitch has spent her life researching… and I love the name of her new book! She says it all. Reign of Error.
Einstein said, “A question that sometimes drives me hazy: Am I or are the others crazy?” Diane lets us know that it is definitely the others. Her research is impeccable, and Arne Duncan, David Coleman, Michelle Rhee, Chancellor Merryl Tisch, and Commissioner King should be really ashamed of themselves for feeding public education to the privitazation, Pearson-esque wolves.
I just bought: ‘Reign of Error: The Hoax of the Privatization Movement and the Danger to America’s Public Schools’ by Diane Ravitch
