Somewhat off topic, but do you know anything about John Gunn? He was the individual funder of the program that I mentioned in my post last night. Who is he and what’s his interest in all this?
I found one John Gunn on the San Francisco Opera site:
http://sfopera.com/About/People/John-Gunn.aspx
He could be the one.
There are many people named John Gunn on LinkedIn though.
I think we have to face the fact that the corporate owned media — including the Corporation for Public Broadcasting — is encumbered by an unresolvable conflict of interest when it comes to telling the truth about the corporate totalitarian agenda, in other words, the corporate ownership of everything from the government on down.
Don’t you mean the Corporation for Private Broadcasting?
Kinda of like National Propaganda Radio or National Pentagon Radio?

What can we do to stop this?
Diane, I spent over an hour responding to the poorly done FRONTLINE piece. When I went to post the comment, it was erased.
Diane, in addition to the link you mentioned above, there is this one: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/education-of-michelle-rhee/ It is getting a lot more (mostly negative) feedback. I suspect they have a lot backed up, as I left mine 11 hours ago, and it just appeared.
I just left my comment. Let’s see if they post it.
National Boycott of MSNBC and no more donations to PBS from me:
This is from Schools Matter:

They do seem to be way behind on their moderation queue …

I wish you’d written a better paragraph to get censored, Diane. There’s a lot we need to say about Rhee, and I understand you’re trying to summarize what teachers felt under her divisive tenure, but “Ice Queen” is a subjective personal characterization and PBS can make a strong defense for declining to run it.
I would have explained how her actions as an administrator and as political operative demonstrate implacable hostility to public education itself. I would have given evidence that her tenure in DC was destructive of collegiality, but maybe not included the Ice Queen epithet.
I think you should consider rewriting your paragraph.
Thank you for explaining why I wasn’t surprised that they edited that paragraph out. We are rubbing off on you, Diane. While we are allowed to rant here, you are our level headed, rational spokesperson.
I left a comment citing G.F. Brandenberg’s brilliant investigative work on Rhee’s fraud while working in Baltimore on this site but it hasn’t been printed. I have posted 2 comments at PBS, the last challenging FRONTLINE to allow Brandenberg to be interviewed in a follow-up documentary.
If Rhee is the “Fearless” individual Merrow paints her out to be then surely she will accept the challenge of debating Brandenberg on air.
John Merrow’s pieces on the PBS news hour have disgusted me for at least ten years. I haven’t contributed to my local PBS affiliate because of them and their general support of the billionaire boys’ club. Actually I was pleasantly shocked at the fact that he even brought up evidence for cheating under Rhee’s watch. That was an improvement, even if his piece could have been stronger.
It figures Merrow has never been a teacher. He has the usual Ivy League credentials, and has been an education reporter for nearly 40 years, but that angle isn’t the same thing as actually having had teaching experience.
Of course those who have never taught are the “experts”, eh!!
20 years ago I – I remember, clearly, sitting in a classroom at North Seattle Community College and arguing politics with this doofus who loved Rush Limbaugh. One of the arguments was how PBS shouldn’t have public money.
Even though I knew rush was a right wing liar, I actually agreed! I thought – ‘What happens when these liars take over PBS, I’ll be paying for right wing lies!’
I’m glad I didn’t see this garbage. While it is too bad that the right lying string pullers pulled another coup, while it is too bad that the zillions of dupes of the string pullers have had their warped world view supported – WHERE are the pathetic, politically incompetent union “leaders” …?
Ooops! Stoooooooooopid me! They’re politically incompetent and pathetic!! I’m sure they’re generating some Tome of Truth response that someone will use in their application to the Kennedy School Of Government, College of Noble Losers.
