Here’s a hard-hitting investigative report on the money pouring into California to beat the unions by cutting off dues collections. The face of this campaign is Gloria Romero, who flipped to the right and is now the face of Democrats for Education Reform, the pro-privatization Wall Street hedge fund managers’ group.
Seems the Koch brothers tossed in a few million, which makes it hard to maintain the pretense that the anti-union campaign is warm, fuzzy and progressive.
The only error that I spotted is calling ALEC “neoconservative.” It is a reactionary organization pushing radical schemes to suppress voter rights, relax gun control, crush unions, relax environmental regulation, and privatize public education, among other things.
I’m glad someone still knows how to read, write, investigate, and report. I’ve just come to the conclusion that we as a society are no longer moving forward or progressing toward some enlightened state. It seems like we’re regressing-one day at a time. The battle now seems to be to just prevent too much regression and hope that we can just stabilize the situation. Every day brings a new tale of social and intellectual derangement.
The future looks bleak. One day we’ll be telling our grandchildren about this mythical country where there were public libraries, schools with experienced and caring teachers, and subjects called “art”, “drama”, and “music”. I will soon be heading to my professional development day to listen to how to increase rigor in my curriculum. What do they think I’ve been doing for the two plus decades of my career?
The future, I agree, can look bleak indeed. But I don’t see it that way.
I think we—meaning parents, students, teachers and concerned citizens—are going to win this war, despite whatever battles we lose along the way.
On this day where the great John Lennon would have turned 72 years old, let’s keep the faith people and remember “Power To The People”! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wos-dDxpJlQ

All of those objectionable parties above can also be tied to Michelle Rhee, the Democrat if you ask her.

Thank you for that. Will blog about it in a few days.
