Mark Naison writes that teachers are the nation’s unsung heroes.
He says:
….in spite of the forces arrayed against you, do not give up or
give in, because you are all that stands between our children and
dehumanization . There is no metric that can measure love, there is no
metric that can measure compassion, there is no metric that can measure
imagination, there is no metric that can measure humor.
You are our hope, You are our future.
Stay true, stay strong. Someday the nation will recognize that your
vision, and your best practices, are the only sure path to improving
our schools.
Inspirational ~ thank you.
After putting in countless days of unpaid prep work in my classroom under the spectre of new accountability and technology-driven mandates, I have come to the conclusion that no one is “measuring” the amount of extra time and effort necessary to do our jobs–it would impossible to compensate us for all of it.
It is comforting to see that there are still some people who appreciate the personal sacrifices we make to be professionals who seek to inspire our students.
Thank you for posting this.
Mark’s remarks were so encouraging. I shared it on various facebook pages. Like you, Diane, Mark has a way of sparking spirits and giving our educators the will to keep at it.
I hope you posted the link to the whole post. It is well worth reading.
This teacher is very thankful for social media. Through it, I find the inspiration to keep fighting the good fight… inside the classroom and out. Mark is a daily blessing to many online, as are you, Diane. Teachers everywhere thank you both for your support!
teacher are the one who enlighten us from darkness and giving the meaning of education to us.
