   Diane – I am sitting in my office, preparing for the opening day of school. I spent days pouring over student’s test scores on the NYS tests and comparing their results with DRA scores. It appears that a student must be reading one entire year ahead of their grade level to get a 4.

   I was thrilled to come upon a Time Magazine and read the article about Clyde McBride and the great work he is doing on behalf of Navajo children in Arizona. I was thrilled that you were quoted in the article. I hope you will be able to share your thoughts about this wonderful teacher and vocational education when you are interviewed on CNN. I can’t wait to hear you speak.

   Then because I am addicted to your blog — I heard my iPhone heralding an email and stopped my reading to check what article you might be referencing now. Much to my delight , I watched the video on YouTube. Thank you for making me laugh out loud!!

   That is one of the cutest commercials I’ve seen in a long time. I wonder how many of your readers remember the song or know what a roller skate key looks like or what it was for.

   Silly is good! Too, too cute! After my short nap, this perked me up. Oh, the fun I had on roller skates. Oh, the skinned knees that went with them! Yep, I remember the song, too!

   I smiled and smiled. I could not help myself. I sang along to an old favorite. I skated with my friends day after day in the 1950’s. I had a great pair of skates known as Chicago skates with wheels way ahead of their time–ball-bearinged or something special. I still have the key, but the skates are long-gone. Thank you, Diane.
