Two different videos made by educators to satirize Michelle Rhee’s insulting Olympics ad, the one that ridicules America, teachers, students, obesity and gays.
Here is one. It is hilarious.
Here is the other. This creative video is from “the Chalkface,” where smart and funny educators use radio and video to get their message across to the public.
Social media give us the tools to speak up, laugh out loud, and ridicule the ridiculous ideas now being foisted onto educators by edu-deformers.
I had not seen Rhee’s video…and I am still shaken. How dare she! I just retired from teaching (after 39 years) to run for a house of representative seat in my state with the goal of restoring funding to public education in the state. My theme in one word is ENOUGH! (anti-public education)! Well, after seeing Rhee’s venom….we who have our hearts and souls vested in public education have to shout ENOUGH!
ENOUGH! Great idea, I would vote for you! What state are you in?
Rhee is clearly relying on lack of critical thinking among the populace to garner support for StudentsFirst.
As instructed at the end of the video, I went to the website http://www.studentsfirst.org/olympics to “see what [I] can do” about America’s education problem. I was directed to a petition asking visitors to sign on to be part of the transformation of America’s education system. Mind you, there was absolutely no mention of what Rhee’s vision of transformation entails. Absolutely insulting!
Apparently Rhee thinks Americans will just sign on to anything that sounds good even if they don’t have the facts. Perhaps she realizes that few people would sign on if they actually understood her beliefs about educational reform. Sadly, if her policy ideas become reality, she’ll have plenty of supporters in the form of Americans whose educational experiences have programmed them to prefer superficial information over critical thinking about complex issues.
Sometimes humor tells it best.
