Trump had a phone call with Putin before Zelensky arrived to confer with Trump about a peace plan. Trump spoke to Putin for two hours before Zelensky arrived.
When Zelensky’s airplane landed, no American was there to greet him, only Ukraine’s Ambassador to the U.S. This contrasted with Trump’s warm welcome for Putin when they met in Alaska. Trump had Marines on their knees unfurling a red carpet for Putin, and Trump waited for Putin on the tarmac, greeting him with the joy of a boy for his beloved father.
The meeting takes place as Russia has stepped up the intensity of its nightly bombing of Ukrainian cities, with more drones and missiles than at any time since Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022.
Trump apparently believes that Russia wants peace, even as they daily target residential apartment buildings and power plants in Ukraine.
Trump and Putin are dear friends. Or, more likely, Putin plays Trump like a violin, praising him lavishly and inflating his giant ego.
I’m sorry to say it but Zelensky is wasting his time by counting on Trump. Trump has thus far asked Zelensky to accept “peace” on Putin’s terms. The U.S. is not Ukraine’s ally. He should rely on Europe because they don’t want the aggressor to prevail.

As Representative Turner said, no true American can support Putin and Putin’s demand that Ukraine surrender all the territory that Putin has stolen — territory that is sanctified by the blood of all the brave Ukrainians who have died trying to fight off the massive Russian invasion.

IMHO, he does not really care about them, due to his racist history and because he has demonstrated for years that he really only cares about himself. He wants to win the Nobel Peace Prize though, which is antithetical to being the bully that he has long been at his core. However, he thinks he is a master deal maker, too, and he constantly provides a litany of countries that have supposedly been at war for years and which he alone was able to end.
I haven’t seen evidence of that so it seems to me like he will say and do most anything to appear to care about others, in order to get that Peace Prize –even if it means killing people,. Apparently, he believes that is fine as long as he makes it look like he’s killing and saving the right people. But thinking he can start a war (on Christmas!) to win a peace prize shows just how self-centered and sick he really is –and I highly doubt the Nobel Committee will fall for it.

His orders to kill people in small boats because they may be drugrunners is not the stuff of Nobel Peace Prize. He will never win it. He wants it because Obama got one. Also because he can’t buy it.

I recently read that some people claimed he was trying to satisfy his Evangelical base, but many of those people are the very ones who he had said he would never lose even if he shot someone on 5th Avenue, so I had immediately ruled that out. I doubted he was appealing to his Nazi & KKK base either, since Christians in Nigeria are most likely black…

A Russian asset sent to Washington by a majority of the population, misinformed as they were by a press that is dominated by a particular group of people. These people constantly undermine the free flow of information by claiming their opponents are transcendent in the media, leading to the widespread belief that news is just opinion, and one opinion is about as good as another.
When people are wealthy enough to monopolize the media, truth is the victim.

I have read many articles about the supposed 8 wars that Trump brags about having ended himself and some of his methods have been rather questionable to me, such as our bombing of Iran and Trump’s threatening of trade consequences like tariffs if countries don’t comply with his demands.
Also, peace has not prevailed in all of those countries and not every one of them credits him for being responsible for bringing peace either, so I recommend reading a lot of articles, too, including the following article from Time earlier this month: “In Places Trump Has Touted Bringing Peace, Conflict Still Rages”

Also, for those who didn’t know, the Kennedy Center is not the only place where Trump added his name to the top without permission. Another biggie is the US Institute for Peace. To quote the above article, all of the renaming is “part of a broader rebranding effort by the administration.”
Apparently, that has been intentionally coordinated in a timely manner with our upcoming 250 year anniversary as a nation in 2026. So don’t be surprised if you see even more ways of celebrating that are primarily about our rebranded country that looks like a commercial, brought to you by Trump and his obedient lackeys (but which says very little if anything about our own freedom and protected rights).
