As the retired LtCol stated, Trump is a Fascist Wannabe Dictator. No question about it. This fact needs to be said out in public load and clear. People need to go out to him and his minions out of office.
I was very proud of our Senior Military Leadership. It had to be very hard for them to set in that room and listen to those two immature children who are in reality Fascist Fools rant, rave and say senseless things about the United States Military. It was insulting.
I sincerely hope that many of those Senior Military Leaders do not decide to retire. It is not time for retirement of these well educated combat experiences leaders to retire. Not until Tump is gone and forgotten in the dust of history.
This blog and others spend a lot of time talking about education but until Trump is gone the changes that are needed in education will never happen. It will only get worse. It is time to take Trump on where it hurts him and speak out loudly against him, him worthless minions, and force the MAGAs to wake up to the damage he is causing. Every blog that is lead by people like Diane should spend a lot of time, energy and words speaking out against Trump. The midterms are coming. Destroy his elected base by voting them out.
I am retired veteran. Drafted in 1967. Retired in October 1990. Served as enlisted and as a commissioned officer. I was so anger after watching that meeting with the Senior Military Leadership that my blood pressure went through the roof. We veterans were treated badly back in the late 60s and 70s. I had hope the leadership of this country had grown up a little but apparently not.

Moeone,
You are so right. Until this fascist wannabe and his enablers are out of office, nothing good can happen.
I occasionally get emails or comments from people who say “I signed to read about education. Stop writing about Trump.”
But as I see my beloved nation under the heel of Trump and Miller, I can’t be silent.
I am a patriot. It sickens me to watch the Trump cabal destroy the federal government and the Constitution.
It’s not even drip by drip. It’s a monsoon.

Indeed, “until Trump is gone the changes that are needed in education will never happen.”
Also, until needed changes in education happen, there will be Trumps.
So, it is fitting and proper that Diane and this blog spend a lot of time talking about education and Trump. Doing so contributes to causing ever-present self-reinforcing feedback loops we are caught up in to reverse from vicious to virtuous.

Hegseth’s exaggerated “manliness” looks like a psychology textbook case study of someone denying their actual sexual orientation.

My first and still lasting impression of Hegseth is that he is nothing more than a momma’s boy who has to have someone, as does Fascist Trump, stroking him every minute of the day to make him feel good. He a prima donna and like many prima donnas do not serve a useful purpose in life.

Trump opened his speech with a “lighthearted” quip that basically said he’d fire anyone who openly expressed dissatisfaction with him and his policies.
Loss of rank and career. That would be a lot for anyone to absorb in any setting.

Gitapik,
Trump likes to ignore tradition, norms, and the law. No President has ever told the military that he would fire them if they deify him. He has illusions of greatness, after a lifetime as a bankrupt mobster.

Countries in the world are learning that they don’t need the United States. Trump is a non-leader. I certainly don’t trust an aging demented, sociopath who picks totally unqualified people to ‘advise’ him. They only bow and tell Trump how fantastically great he is.
US retreat gives other countries chance to step up
Reuters Sept. 29, 2025
LONDON, Sept 29 (Reuters Breakingviews) – Madeleine Albright used to call the United States the “indispensable nation“. The former Secretary of State meant that the country had a special leadership role because of its vision and power.
With Donald Trump now pursuing an “America First” agenda, the rest of the world is discovering if it can make do without Washington’s leadership. The U.S. president’s disdain for alliances and multilateral rules, which he once again displayed during his address to the United Nations General Assembly last week, means there is now a vacuum in world affairs….
It will not be easy to pick up the pieces because Trump is not just absenting the U.S. from global leadership. He is also actively trying to wreck international norms over issues such as free trade, climate change and treatment of refugees. What is more, countries which wish to form coalitions of the willing without Washington risk angering a U.S. president who has a capacity to punish those who slight him…
