Several days ago, I posted this horrible story about a young woman in Georgia who is on life support. She is brain dead. Because she was nine weeks pregnant when her brain died, Georgia law requires that she be kept in a vegetative state until the fetus can be delivered at 36 weeks.
The political cartoonist Ann Telnaes posted this visual commentary on her Substack blog:
“The decision should have been left to us- not the state”, says her family

Telnaes quit her job at The Washington Post when her editor refused to publish a cartoon showing the tech billionaires bowing to Trump. Jeff Bezos, the owner of the newspaper, was one of them. Telnaes won a Pulitzer Prize for that cartoon.

Once again, the Republicans prove that they are the party of government hands off. Hands off my business! Hands off my ability to discriminate in my practice of employment! Hands off my body! Hands off my guns! Hands off your body? Well, not so much.

They are the Party of Whatever Works for Them. With Harvard, they are hands on. With law firms that represented people who are anti-MAGA, they are hands-on. When it suits them, they go either way. It’s all about control.

At nine weeks pregnant the fetus is roughly the size of a peanut. Many pregnancies spontaneously abort after that timeframe. I suspect that if the fetus survives the next 6 months, that there will be major health issues throughout its probably shortened life. Sad indeed.
Christian Theofascists at it again. . . against the wishes of the family.
