   Jesus Christ also never claimed he was God’s son. If he did call out Father while on the cross, referring to God, that was common practice in Israel at that time for most if not all Jews to refer to God as the Father.

   The idea that Jesus was God’s son didn’t come about until the fourth century after his death, after the Roman Empire decided to make Christianity the official religion of the empire. Those who disagreed with that decision were hunted down and killed.

   HERE’S THE ANSWER TO THE QUESTION “WHAT WOULD JESUS DO?”

   John 2:15 — “And He made a whip with knots in it and drove them all out of The Temple, along with their sheep and oxen and He overturned the tables of the money changers, scattering their money on the ground.”

   JESUS WARNED US ALL: “Many of you will say to Me on Judgment Day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name and in Your name drive out demons, and in Your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly: ‘I never knew you. Depart from Me, you evildoers’!” MATTHEW 7:21-23.

   WHY is Jesus sending these Christians, even miracle workers, to hell? The answer is:

   MATTHEW 25:41-46 — Then He will say to those on His left: “Depart from Me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave Me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave Me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not invite Me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe Me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after Me.”

   Then they will ask Him: “Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help You?”

   And He will tell them: “Truly I say to you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these people, you did not do for Me.”

   Then they will go away into eternal punishment.

   JESUS IS THE MOST WOKE ONE OF ALL. BE JESUS-WOKE AS HE REQUIRES YOU TO BE IN MATTHEW 25:41-46 SO THAT YOU WON’T GET ONE HELL OF A SURPRISE AT YOUR JUDGMENT.

   The death of Pope Francis is such a huge loss. I think he was a lot like Jesus –possibly the most open-hearted and interested in learning about people and the world (i.e. woke) of all the popes. (I attended a Jesuit university for my doctorate and was very impressed with that Order.) I saw a show on PBS indicating that, because traditional views differ so dramatically from his, the cardinals today are not very likely to pick anyone similar to follow him. So sad.

   Diane: Good catch.

   I am all for maintaining a clear distinction between church and state.

   On the other hand, when you look at the all of the programs, etc., that are being chain-sawed, cut, or underfunded, like funding for disabled children and research for cures, it’s difficult NOT to see direct correlates to a very humane-oriented New Testament. CBK
