So Matt Gaetz is out, and Trump was ready with his replacement: Pam Bondi, former State Attorney General of Florida.
She will protect Trump. That is his first requirement for that key position. She will be loyal to him. If there is a clash between Trump and the Constitution, she will protect Trump. She will take an oath to the Constitution but she was chosen to ensure that he is never investigated.
Wikipedia says:
In 2020, Bondi was one of longtime ally President Donald Trump‘s defense lawyers during his first impeachment trial. By 2024, she led the legal arm of the Trump-aligned America First Policy Institute. On November 21, 2024, president-elect Trump announced she would be nominated for United States Attorney General.
She gained national attention with appearances on Fox News as a defender of Trump and had a notable speaking spot at 2016 Republican National Convention as Trump became the party’s surprising nominee. During the remarks, some in the crowd began chanting “Lock her up” about Trump’s Democratic rival Hillary Clinton.

Well, Pam Bondi has the unique distinction of not being accused of sexual assault or any other sexual misdemeanor/crime……so far. But the night is young.

Diane: You know, the whole idea of inclusion, diversity, etc., are understood by many on the GOP side (and of course Trump) as some sort of “hyper- liberal” idea that they think is corrupting it and how it is interpreted.
But for the life of me I cannot find anything new about those ideas of diversity and inclusion considering that the language of “We the people,” and “of, for, and by the people,” and “the people” is peppered throughout the Amendments, include I and IX, and then equality under the law takes the mandate away from racism, sexism, etc., and the social order of the Right and places it squarely in the idea of everyone, as “people,” regardless.
And ditto for the Religious Right who want to bypass everything in the Constitution that refers to religious liberty, but also its distinction from Government endorsements. They love freedom, as long as it’s only theirs.
But anyone can call the U.S. Constitution a liberal document, but so what? It is no wonder, then, that racist/sexist/misogynist, xenophobic, anti-everyone-Trump wants to throw out the Constitution–it flies in the face of all of those biases he and MAGA are so fond of clearing the way for.
Inclusion, diversity, etc., equals “We the People.” CBK

Trump is only looking for all who will agree with him in the proposals he intends to sign into law, he doesn’t want anyone to question his, authority, he just want compliant dogs that will, follow him around, respond to his commands of “sit”, “stay”, he won’t allow, anyone else to, have a difference of opinion from him, that’s what made him into a, dictator, authoritarian leader, with the, legislature, as well as the, Supreme Court, under his, thumb too now. He thinks now, he is in charge of, ALL policy setting in the U.S., and, the citizens of the country are, reinforcing him in his, bad behaviors, and the people who are living in the U.S., DESERVE to be, ENSLAVED.

There’s not much to like but that’s why we have elections. It could be so much worse than Bondi. At least she has a baseline level of experience and competence. Bonus points for not being investigated for sex trafficking.

I would expect Bondi to be confirmed. After that it will depend on how zealously she pursues Trump’s agenda of politicizing DOJ.

Biondi has already done for Trump what Gaetz was hoping to do. She should be disqualified because she falsely claimed there had been almost no complaints about Trump University when there had been more than 20 that she ignored.
Biondi is so corrupt – and Trump knew she was corrupt – that Trump directed his foundation to give her a $25,000 campaign contribution.
Here is the thing. Trump very likely has evidence that Biondi acted corruptly when she covered up complaints about Trump U. and took his foundation’s “charitable” money.
She has already acted dirty to help Trump get out of trouble for running his fake university, and Trump very likely has evidence of that corruption.
It’s likely Trump always wanted Biondi, who he already knows is dirty and will do whatever he wants. Matt Gaetz was supposed to make people believe Biondi has some credibility. The idea is that the lousy media will forget that Trump likely has dirt on Biondi from when she acted improperly when her office got complaints about Trump University.

“Despite previously acknowledging the 22 complaints (sometimes 23 due to a duplicate record) to reporters, internal emails show that between October 17-18, 2013, OAG employees weeded out any complaint about Trump Institute and related entities to claim there was only one complaint against Trump University.”

The timeline here is particularly disturbing, since it means that Biondi knows Trump has dirt on her.

Pam Bondi as Attorney General.
What could go wrong? Let’s see.
Bondi was never a supporter of the Affordable Care Act and tried to extinguish it. As of February of this year, Florida had more than 4 million people receiving health care through the Affordable Care Act, the highest ACA enrollment in the country.
Bondi has been a long-time opponent of LGBTQ rights and same-ex marriage. After the Supreme Court’s Obergefell decision, Bondi said she had OPPOSED same-sex marriage NOT for any personal beliefs or political partisanship but because of “the rule of law.”
Bondi took that $25,000 political donation from a Trump CHARITY and then dropped any participation by Florida in a lawsuit against the Trump University flim-flam scheme. She denied that she did anything wrong or that there was any connection between the moola and her decision not to participate in the suit against Trump’s crooked tactics. Indeed, as one Trump University official said in court testimony, enrollees in the courses were directed to
“call their credit card companies and raise their credit limits two, three, or four times so that they would be able to invest in real estate,” to “charge the course to multiple credit cards” or “to open up as many credit cards as they could.”
Bondi is a 2020 election denier, parroting Trump’s false claims that the election was “stolen” by “fake ballots” — she could never provide any evidence of this — and that any investigation into Trump’s incitement of the violent January 6 insurrection was a weaponization of the Justice Department for political purposes. Just last year she said on Fox ‘news” that,
“When Republicans take back the White House, you know what’s going to happen? The Department of Justice, the prosecutors will be prosecuted — the bad ones — the investigators will be investigated.”
Kinda sounds like “weaponization” doesn’t it?
The mission of the Department of Justice is “to uphold the rule of law, to keep our country safe, and to protect civil rights.” According to its website, DOJ core values are
• Independence and Impartiality.
• Honesty and Integrity.
• Respect.
• Excellence.
Obviously, the nomination of Matt Gaetz was laughably terrible. Pam Bondi may be a bit more palatable, but not by much. She is a liar, and a bigot, and a right-wing hack, and a seditious traitor…but with a “pretty” face. She’s the lipstick on the pig.
So what could go wrong? A whole lot.

More on Pam Bondi here:
“June Clarkson and Theresa Edwards were attorneys in the Economic Crimes division of the Florida attorney general’s office, based in Fort Lauderdale. They joined the government to prevent companies from ripping off their customers. In 2010, they heard from an oncology nurse named Lisa Epstein, who delivered information about how law firms across the state were using hundreds of thousands of phony documents to foreclose on homeowners. Lisa knew this because the banks tried to do it to her.
A group of foreclosure victims had found documents that were literally signed ‘Bogus Assignee.’ They had documents dated 9/9/9999. They had documents notarized on dates before they were allegedly created. They traced these documents back to Florida’s ‘foreclosure mills,’ law firms that churned out foreclosures the way a factory churns out sweaters. The false documents were necessary because banks and lenders, striving during the housing bubble to sell mortgages and deliver them to investors, securitized the loans without maintaining chain of title, botching the true ownership records. Instead of rectifying the situation, the banks had the foreclosure mills concoct false evidence and present it in courts to dispossess people.
Within months, the attorney general’s office had opened investigations into Lender Processing Services, Florida Default Law Group, the Law Office of David J. Stern, Marshall C. Watson, Shapiro & Fishman, and other components of Florida’s great foreclosure machine. In the course of the investigation, Clarkson and Edwards deposed Tammie Lou Kapusta, a former paralegal with David J. Stern, who testified that the firm employed offshore foreclosure document shops in Guam and the Philippines, receiving fake documents that the paralegals would sign. Notary stamps were sitting around the office, and anyone on the team would use them and forge the signatures of the notaries.
By October 2010, all of the leading banks stopped pursuing foreclosures in Florida and across the country, because they could no longer do it legally. It was an incredible example of citizen activism making a real difference, aided by Clarkson and Edwards, the first two law enforcement officials who were actually willing to investigate the fraud.
The system was working, until Pam Bondi came to town.”
