CNN reviewed the claims made at the Republican Conventuon and pointed out lies. Too bad CNN didn’t do this during the Presidential debate, but inexplicably both sides agreed to that condition.

I couldn’t keep it on for more than 5 consecutive seconds. What a party of weirdos and freaks.

Agree 100%. I could only take a few seconds of the crap-fest and the stream of lies, balderdash and utter nonsense. God help us all if the GOP wins controlling the presidency, House and Senate.
I decided to watch The Indian Doctor rerun on a PBS affiliate.

I can no longer stomach listening to or watching them. A total freakshow.

I won’t be able to watch any of the Ripofflichen Nazi Circus — blood pressure, doctor’s orders. I thought they had scheduled the “kinder gentler despotism” production number for this time slot — but it looks like maybe I’m reading from an old program. At any rate from what hardier folks than I are telling me, they’re still going full frontal fascist for now.

CNN fact checked a former sniper that was being interviewed this morning. The sniper was talking about the failure of The Secret Service to provide security. He started to try to imply that the failure came from someone higher up. The moderator stopped him and said there was no evidence to indicate anyone “higher up” was involved. She even said, “You’re not trying to imply Biden was involved. There is nothing that points to that.” The press needs to intervene when guests start engaging in misinformation and lies.

How about all those local cops standing around when people came up to them and specifically pointed out the guy with a gun climbing up a building Not one of them ran over to see for themselves. I don’t get what those cops thought their job was — to rough up anyone who looked like a liberal?
They were right there and couldn’t be bothered. Was that a conspiracy, too? Or do Trump-supporting police get a pass because they are only there to rough up unarmed folks?
Why aren’t Republican legislators demanding they appear at hearings to find out how they were in on the conspiracy?

Why did Biden agree not to have CNN fact check both candidates during the debates?
I understand why Traitor Trump would want CNN to not fact check and only debate if Biden agreed because his mouth is a lie factory. If that was one of Trump’s conditions, then he knows he’s lying most if not all of the time. But he doesn’t want voters to hear it at the same time he’s lying.

Bob, Biden should have demanded fact checking.

Confession: I used to watch both party’s conventions. I will not watch the GOP Convention this week. Too depressing to think they swoon for a man who tried to overturn the government and the Constitution.

haha CNN the fake news network which spews lies for years is fact checking haha. I needed a good laugh. Trump nearly being assassinated by an inch proves the patriots don’t riot. Where were all the cities being burned down after the assasination? After the rhetoric, taking security away etc. if the roles were reversed, could you imagine the riots , cities being burned , vitriol and more .

In the past, I have watched this creep show start to finish and have taken copious notes with which to document the insanity. But this year, I watched an hour or so of the opening day, and that’s all I could stand. I am so over listening to Trumpanzee sycophants. I notice, however, that they have really toned down, this year, the Fascist iconography and symbolism. The whole thing is a lot less Leni Riefenstahl this time. Why? Their marketing people are probably saying to them, better chill, because Fascism isn’t exactly playing well out there in the country

It would make for a shorter list if CNN would simply count the number of true statements made by speakers at FascistFest 2024.

The Fascism is still there, ofc. That’s what the party is about now. But it was less overt on the first day. I haven’t watched since. Not sure my stomach can handle it. Not sure a crow’s stomach could handle it. Not sure the stomach of the demon whose name is Legion could handle it. Jon put it best. What a bunch of freaks.

Can you imagine CNN trying to “fact check” a Hitler speech? Or the NYT “fact-checking” David Duke in 1991?
Did CNN also “fact check” Saddam Hussein? Did they “fact-check” what Al Quaeda leaders said after 9/11? Are they now “fact-checking” Putin?
It is virtually impossible. When someone’s entire message is false, the ONLY way to “fact check” them is to simply present them as people with NO CREDIBILITY who should be marginalized because they are dangerous and entirely self-serving people without any morals or scruples.
By “fact checking” both Biden and Trump, CNN and the rest of the so-called liberal media simply legitimize Trump despite his lies. “Both sides need fact checking”. “Both sides lie”. Trump and the Republicans are a normal political party.
They used to know better. The media didn’t spend their time parsing Duke and Edwards’ statements for misstatements that needed to be corrected.
They presented David Duke as who he was. A Klansman/neo-Nazi whose claims to have very recently renounced every fascist white supremacist idea he spewed a short time ago because he wanted to presented himself as less extreme than he is should not be trusted, period.
But the media is now a tool of the propagandists. They are terrified of being called “biased”, so they normalize the Republican in every news article. The guy who was leader of the birthers, with a long history of dishonesty, cheating people who believed him in business, in his fake university, in his fake charity, things that happened very recently, like inciting an insurrection and being recorded pressuring Georgia officials to falsify votes for him, gets his entire past minimized as not “newsworthy.” Let’s fact check his speech! Let’s fact check Biden’s speech! They both were wrong — see how fair and balanced we are!
Fact checking a Putin speech does not inform the public of what a frightening leader he is. Fact checking a Hitler speech doesn’t inform students who study history what a frightening leader he was.

You are right, NYC, that GIVEN WHAT TRUMP IS, the media are out of kilter. It’s like giving equal time and favor and benefit of the doubt to Ed Gein and Mr. Rogers. It should be unimaginable that someone with the repellant character and disloyalty to his country of Donald Trump should be countenanced in any race for any office, much less for president of the United States. Lowlife scum.

“In Mr. Rogers testimony before the Senate, Mr. Rogers said his tv show had been on WQED for 15 years. That is incorrect. Mr. Roger’s program began airing on KQED (not WQED) only 14 1/4 years ago. Mr. Rogers said his budget was $30, when in fact, it was $35.”
“Ed Gein incorrectly stated his farm was located in Plainfield, when in fact it was located in West Plainfield.”
