Thom Hartmann says that Trump fans are dreaming of a 50-year MAGA reich:
Horrified critics blast Fox’s Ingraham for suggesting a 50-year MAGA reich is possible. If Trump wins, this will be referred to as the age of Trump,” Laura Ingraham told her Fox viewers, dreaming of a repeat of the kind of consequential presidency that stamps political eras. “He dominates the policy debate in ways that no one has done since Reagan. And if he picks a strong VP… this coalition could be in power for 50 years.” Ingraham — who I also once debated, at a Heritage Foundation event — could be right. If Trump becomes president this fall, he and his Project 2025 allies will transform America in ways that go far beyond FDR’s New Deal or Reagan’s war on working people. The Christian Taliban that has surrounded him will take over public school instruction and birth control policy, racist militias and skinheads will be running elections and immigration policy, the media will be finally and fully seized by rightwing oligarchs like in Russia and Hungary, unions and equality movements will be functionally outlawed, and Trump’s “enemies” (including reporters and commentators like yours truly) will end up in prison. Each of those things are already promised explicitly by Trump himself or part of the Project 2025 program for the next Republican presidency.

If Traitor Trump’s MAGA goons come for me, I’ll do my best to die fighting instead of being carted off to one of Trump’s prison camps for his enemies and those who will not fall into line and do what the traitor’s allies, the Christian fascist Nationalist movement dictates.
Hopefully before they murder me, take everything I own, and erase the fact that I ever existed, I’ll get two or more of them.

Hartmann mentions two important issues, the high cost of healthcare and climate change as reasons to not vote for Trump. Another MAGA term would fail to address either of these pressing issues among several others. It is sad that voters do not understand that Biden is not responsible for the greedflation plaguing our markets due to lack of competition. the fact is that Biden is the first president in fifty years that is working to enforce existing antitrust laws. Biden is not responsible for Netanyahu’s inhumane treatment of the Palestinians. The president was put in an impossible place between honoring our alliance with Israel and dealing with its maniacal leadership. Democrats have great deal of work to do to defend and frame Biden’s difficult political decisions.
Republicans often are perceived to be better for the economy. Yet the facts tell a different story. Democrats need to go back to the “esteemed” Reaganomics and debunk the GOP assertions. The middle leaning “USA Today” presents a very clear picture using fact to explain the differences. The regressive tax cuts for the rich and trickle down economics of GOP administrations lead to recessions. Democratic administrations have led to stronger, healthier economies and positive growth of the GDP. Again, Democrats must get out to the media with the facts and stop allowing the GOP to control the narratives. BTW, crime is not rampant in the US. It is actually down in most communities. The crime and border “crises” feed the GOP’s propaganda.

Unlike Trump’s first term that started out without clear leadership, his second term is outlined in a manifesto called Project 2025, and much of it is the work of The Heritage Foundation and Christian Nationalists. None of it is good news for anyone that values democracy, truth or justice. Their goal is reshape our country into autocratic dictatorship. This Wiki page outlines the major goals of this dystopian plan. If this doesn’t make you want to get up and vote, nothing will. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Project_2025

50 years? America and the world should be so lucky. How would our grandchildren and their world recover if our nation became a fascist dictatorship? No free press. No functioning public schools. Right wing religion and oligarchs in the saddle?
When the world had Hitler and Mussolini, it also had Roosevelt, Eisenhower, Churchill, Truman, etc. If we become Hitler, what country would be strong enough to produce the leadership and the military, political might to resist? Russia? China?
No. Let’s stop fascism in America now. We need to stop doing other stuff and win this election.

Who would rescue us from Trumpism? The Germans and Italians lost WW2 and were rescued (at least, the West Germans). Spain was less overt in supporting the Axis, so it was “spared” liberation until Franco died in 1975.
Trump could install three additional young MAGA justices, cementing the court for decades. Junior Trumps, like DeSantis, stand ready for 2028 and beyond. Who would rescue us?

Trump v. Biden: Comparing the Records
Some are arguing that Biden is too old and is slipping too much to be president. Well, that’s not true, but even if it were, I’ll take a competent corporate Biden presidency over the absolute disaster that was Donald Trump ANY day. To the horror of his Joint Chiefs, Trump abandoned to Assad and the Russians our allies the Kurds, who had helped us defeat ISIL, leading to their SLAUGHTER and to the resignation of his superbly competent SECDEF, James Mattis. He ordered his Secretary of Homeland Security to have the Border Patrol SHOOT innocent, unarmed asylum seekers and, when he was told that could not legally be done, SCREAMED at her while calling her “honey.” Then he suggested that the Border Patrol could “just shoot them in the legs” because Trump gets his ideas from television. In the runup to the 2016 election, Trump actually told a reporter who had asked him where he got his military advice that he got it “from the shows.” President Trump conducted a campaign of mass kidnapping whereby kids as young as little babies were taken from their parents and shipped off God knows where. He completely gutted the Clean Air and Clean Water Acts. He was a one-man environmental catastrophe. He never delivered the healthcare bill that he kept promising “any day now” or “within a week.” He similarly never delivered his infrastructure bill. He increased the federal deficit by 7.8 TRILLION dollars. Both were just examples of his typical bloviating bullshit.
And he thought that stealth airplanes were actually invisible and that we should send astronauts to the sun and nuke hurricanes and sweep forests and buy Greenland and inject disinfectant. He thought that a dementia screening was an IQ test. He thought and still thinks that other countries pay the tariffs we place on their goods. He’s profoundly ignorant about most everything. He has likely never read a book in his adult life.
A choice between Trump and Biden is one between a traitorous, seditious career con man and sexual predator versus a statesman.
This is not a difficult decision to make. If Biden’s presidency is being run by the astonishingly capable people he hired, who cares? At least Biden is not A SICK F–K who keeps talking about how he lusts after HIS DAUGHTER. At least he is not a pathological liar and a malignant narcissist. When Trump finally passes on, his tombstone should read,Here lies ex-President Trump. But that’s nothing knew.Ronald Reagan was completely senile during his second term, but he delivered Perestroika and Detente. Biden has great people around him. His PRESIDENCY (the total package, including him and his staff and his agencies and departments) has delivered brilliantly. WE NEED MORE OF THE SAME.
So how is Biden doing? Let’s look at some leading economic indicators:
The current unemployment rate is 4.0 percent, significantly below the historical average of 5.69 percent.
The average annual inflation rate over the past 12 months was 3.3 percent. This is a TINY bit over the average annual inflation rate over the past 20 years, which was 2.51 percent. Hourly wage increases are at an average of 4.1 percent–HIGHER THAN THE INFLATION RATE.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average, today, is 38,589.16 USD. On the last day of the Trump presidency, it was 30,930.52, 7,658.64 points lower. The S&P today is 5431.60. At the end of the Trump presidency, it was 3,798.91, 1632.69 points lower.
Under Biden, American oil production has reached its largest volume in recorded history—more than 13.2 million barrels per day in October, official figures show—outpacing its highest point under Don the Con,13 million barrels daily in November 2019.
Trump tried to bribe Ukraine and delayed aid to that country illegally. He was impeached for this. He says now that he would cut off aid to Ukraine before his second presidency even starts (ofc, he cannot do this; Trump is an idiot and is profoundly ignorant about most everything; he STILL thinks that China pays the tariffs we place on its goods). Trump unilaterally withdrew from the INF and Open Skies treaties at the very time when Putin was fielding hypersonic nuclear missiles. Trump stored top secret documents containing info about our defense capabilities and plans and our intelligence sources and methods, in violation of the Espionage Act, in a freaking bathroom and on the stage in a ballroom at his breathtakingly tacky golf club and home in Flor-uh-duh.
Quite the guy. A career con man who cheated children’s charities, contractors, and middle-class people trying to further their educations (with his fake university). A “Christian” who cannot name a single Bible verse and thinks there is a book called “Two Corinthians” (as in “two Corinthians walk into a bar?) and who exemplifies in excess every one of the seven deadly sins. An adjudged fraudster and rapist and lifelong sexual predator. A guy who told a reporter that he was carrying on an affair because his wife had “ruined her body” having children (his children!!!!) and that, being rich, he could have anyone he wanted.

The case for Biden–not just against Trump, though that aspect is brilliantly stated–made with concise memorability. What can America’s “undecided” voters possibly be thinking? I know someone who dislikes Trump but will write in his vote for Mickey Mouse rather than support Biden and help preserve democracy.

No, one seldom finds a cottonmouth around pools. The water moccasin prefers wild natural areas. They are fairly docile snakes unless hassled or attacked.

That was my point. It’s an unusual and frightening occurrence. I live on a lake in Southern Florida, and we have a pool here. Moccasins are common sightings here. Alas, our maintenance people killed on out there recently. I had one on my porch sunning herself yesterday. I had a gator on my porch not long ago. A friend had one in her swimming pool.

Yes, as humans have moved into former wild areas we have encroached upon the animals that live there. Many a watersnake (they are generally more aggressive than moccasins, striking at people who bother them) has been mis-identified by those who don’t know better as a cottonmouth. . . and then killed.
I have friends that live in Estero Beach (Estero means swamp in Spanish) and yes they have gators that come up in their yard from the lake in back. Again, what should Homo Supposedly Sapiens expect when one builds in wild environments?

I am a cliche. Retired in Florida. But outside my window is a large lake with herons, snowy egrets, roseate spoonbills, terns, mallards, Muscovy ducks, cottonmouth moccasins, moor hens, huge snapping turtles, otters, bass and perch, gulls of various kinds, ring-necked snakes, opossums, raccoons, black racers, sandhill cranes, pileated woodpeckers, doves, bluejays, ravens, anole lizards, many more. I was remarking about this to a friend recently and saying that oddly, I had never seen a field mouse here. That afternoon I stepped outside, and there was a field mouse looking up at me as though to say, “You called?’

At any rate, I think that the original analogy that I used was spot on. Trump’s disproportionate influence on American politics is exactly analogous to the attention that a cotton mouth moccasin would get if it appeared on a crowded pool deck. Here’s why the analogy works: Trump is menacing and scary and metaphorically “cold blooded” and can do a lot of damage and draws attention, just as such a snake would in that situation. That these snakes rarely appear on pool decks is quite irrelevant to the meaning of the analogy. BTW, I often take swims at night in the pool, but I always check first to make sure that I am the only inhabitant, but I’m worried, there, about gators, not about snakes. They seem to be find with chlorinated (well, in our case, chloramined, pool water.

I wonder what role would go, this time, to former Propaganda Minister Stephen “Goebbels” Miller? Is there another place where he can do even more damage and enact even more random cruelty to people from babies and children on up?

Since almost everyone who worked close to him in his previous maladministration now hates his guts and thinks he is a dangerous lunatic, he doesn’t have to worry about hurting people’s feelings this time around by not giving them the job they want. Perhaps he can fill all these vacancies by simply emptying out a ward for the criminally insane somewhere. You know, some place filled with people like him.

I think that my plan is simpler and would have an identical result. Simply find a ward for the criminally insane and send a bus to pick them all up and deliver them to the East and West Wing of the White House, the Eisenhower Executive Office Building, and the New Executive Office Building. Tom Don’t Cotton to Sense? Gym Shorts Jordan? Margery Taylor Mean? Who could tell the difference between these people and those inmates?
