Well, here is another “hostage” or “patriot” for Trump to pardon if he is re-elected. A 58-year-old man from Florida who was a member of the “Proud Boys, not even a man. He beat up several police officers during an event on January 6, 2021, that Trumpers insist was “a normal tourist visit” or (as the president of the Republican National Committee put it) “legitimate political discourse.” Clearly, this is not the party of law and order.
A South Florida member of the far-right Proud Boys was sentenced to five years in prison Wednesday after federal prosecutors described him as “one of the most violent January 6 rioters” who assaulted at least six police officers while attacking the U.S. Capitol three years ago.
Kenneth Bonawitz, 58, of Pompano Beach, grabbed one of the officers in a choke hold and lifted her up and injured another so badly that he was forced to retire, according to federal prosecutors.
Bonawitz, a member of the Miami chapter of the Proud Boys, was carrying an 8-inch knife in a sheath on his hip when he stormed the Capitol with a mob of Donald Trump supporters after gathering for the president’s “Stop the Steal” rally on the Ellipse before the attack.
“Police seized the knife from him in between his barrage of attacks on officers,“ Assistant U.S. Attorney Sean McCauley wrote in a sentencing memo recommending the high end of the guidelines, or nearly six years in prison. “His violent, and repeated, assaults on multiple officers are among the worst attacks that occurred that day.”
U.S. District Judge Jia Cobb in Washington DC gave Bonawitz a five-year sentence, followed by three years of supervised release. Arrested a year ago, he pleaded guilty in August to three felonies — one count of civil disorder and two counts of assaulting police.
Bonawitz arrived in DC via a chartered bus for Trump supporters.
After police confiscated his knife and released him, Bonawitz assaulted four more officers in the span of seven seconds, according to court records. He placed one of the officers in a headlock and lifted her off the ground, choking her.
“Bonawitz’s attacks did not stop until (police) officers pushed him back into the crowd for a second time and deployed chemical agent to his face,” the prosecutor wrote in the sentencing memo. More than 100 police officers were injured during the siege.
And yet the Trump people say the event was organized by the FBI or Antifa.

A handful of years for what this MAGARINO did!?!
That thug should have a life sentence in a maximum security prison.
Wait.
Maybe the frontal lobotomy would work better for getting rid of violent, fascist MAGARINO thugs like this freak. Then send him home so his family can take care of him.
“A large proportion of such lobotomized patients exhibited reduced tension or agitation, but many also showed other effects, such as apathy, passivity, lack of initiative, poor ability to concentrate, and a generally decreased depth and intensity of their emotional response to life.”

Hmmm, I wonder if a frontal lobotomy would also cure a malignant narcissist like Traitor Trump.

We, and every rational, thinking public official, need to call out as UNpatriotic, traitorous liars, whenever anyone tries to frame these thuggish traitors as “hostages” or “political prisoners”. They are delusional cultists who just do the former Liar-in-Chief’s bidding, and think everyone else is as stupid or delusional as they are. ANYONE who defends or justifies what happened on January 6 needs to be called out as a traitor. No discussion. No rationalization. No consideration. Just cultist traitors.

I am stunned that he was only sentenced to 5 years in prison after assaulting 6 police officers. In TN shoplifting penalties can be up to 12 years! https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2018/may/17/walmart-shoplifting-helping-hike-sentences-court
Overall, the sentencing of many Jan 6 insurrectionists seems fairly lenient.

Again, another insurrectionist of Gen X which generationally accounts for most of the insurrectionists that day. I’ve been searching around to find out why it’s this particular generation that tried to help Donald Trump stage the first overt and publicly broadcasted coup d’etat in American history. I posted a couple weeks ago about this phenomenon, referencing the Brad Pitt character, Tyler Durden, and how most of the male characters in that movie blindly followed him because of truths he spoke about the current state of consumer culture and how it feminized them away from their hunter-gatherer (presumably masculine) selves. Growing up in the 80s or coming of age in the 80s, Donald Trump was the poster boy of material and financial success, the epitome of the Reaganomics zeitgeist captured by our pop culture slogans of the time: “Greed, for lack of a better word, is good,” “I’m a material girl in a material world,” “What’s love got to do with it?” But also, our generation was continually sold–basically force-fed–the idea that a college degree–especially in business or economics–automatically guaranteed financial and material success. However, while Gen X dieted on these messages daily while pursuing a (mis)perceived guaranteed pathway to success, politicians and economists were totally restructuring the system behind-the-scenes to deprofessionalize the workforce as a Race to the Bottom that continues to this day. Cutting to the chase: so many in my generation (I’m an Xer) feel betrayed by the promises and guarantees made to us as children, adolescents and young adults by some of the Silent Generation but mostly Baby Boomer politicians of that time; promises and guarantees that finally stopped when W. became president: “Man, I see in fight club the strongest and smartest men who’ve ever lived. I see all this potential, and I see squandering. God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy [crap] we don’t need. We’re the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War’s a spiritual war… our Great Depression is our lives. We’ve all been raised on television to believe that one day we’d all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won’t. And we’re slowly learning that fact. And we’re very, very pissed off.” These words from this film (along with 1999’s other anti-consumer, anti-materialistic, anti-corporate films: American Beauty, The Matrix, Office Space) resonated sharply and poignantly with all of us–25 years ago. Trump and what I call his marketing goons (to get the pulse of it all) exploited it all tragically. And now we’re on the cusp of losing it entirely.

THE older guy who cost a broad swath of the young, their opportunities was Charles Koch (his legislative successes).
