“The Kiss” attracts huge numbers of viewers, all of whom have their cell-phone cameras out or take turns posing in front of it. Personally, there are other works by Klimt that I prefer, most in the Neue Galerie in New York City. But “The Kiss” is celebrated in Austria as Klimt’s finest work. The colors are magnificent, made with real gold and other precious metals ground into paint. I visited the Belvedere Museum, a work of art itself, on September 30 in the morning.

Governor “Ron DuhFascist” just might ban this image in the state of Florida. Anything illustrating love and intimacy that provides joy to so many people is clearly at risk in a state where free and open inquiry into matters of love, sex and artistic expression is under direct attack from the Little Mussolini Wannabe in Tallahassee.
