Hundreds of radical rightwingers are working on something called Project 2025, a detailed plan to dismantle the federal government and establish an Imperial Presidency if Trump wins the 2024 election. If Republicans win, they will fire tens of thousands of federal employees, turn thousands more into political appointments instead of apolitical civil servants, and centralize authoritarian power in the White House.
The planning is led by the Heritage Foundation. Its plan echoes what Trump advisor Steve Bannon called “destroying the administrative state.” What they really want is to diminish all checks and balances, destroy norms, and place all power in the President’s hands. Their plan sounds like what has happened in several red states, where Republicans have gerrymandered districts to exercise complete control, and if Democrats win a statewide election, the legislature reduces the Democrat’s powers before he or she takes office.
The Los Angeles Times reported:
WASHINGTON — With more than a year to go before the 2024 election, a constellation of conservative organizations is preparing for a possible second White House term for Donald Trump, recruiting thousands of Americans to come to Washington on a mission to dismantle the federal government and replace it with a vision closer to his own.
Led by the long-established Heritage Foundation think tank and fueled by former Trump administration officials, the far-reaching effort is essentially a government-in-waiting for the former president’s return — or any candidate who aligns with their ideals and can defeat President Biden in 2024.
With a nearly 1,000-page “Project 2025” handbook and an “army” of Americans, the idea is to have the civic infrastructure in place on Day One to commandeer, reshape and do away with what Republicans deride as the “deep state” bureaucracy, in part by firing as many as 50,000 federal workers.
“We need to flood the zone with conservatives,” said Paul Dans, director of the 2025 Presidential Transition Project and a former Trump administration official who speaks with historical flourish about the undertaking….
The unprecedented effort is being orchestrated with dozens of right-flank organizations, many new to Washington, and represents a changed approach from conservatives, who traditionally have sought to limit the federal government by cutting federal taxes and slashing federal spending.
Instead, Trump-era conservatives want to gut the “administrative state” from within, by ousting federal employees they believe are standing in the way of the president’s agenda and replacing them with like-minded officials more eager to fulfill a new executive’s approach to governing.
The goal is to avoid the pitfalls of Trump’s first years in office, when the Republican president’s team was ill-prepared, his Cabinet nominees had trouble winning Senate confirmation and policies were met with resistance — by lawmakers, government workers and even Trump’s own appointees who refused to bend or break protocol, or in some cases violate laws, to achieve his goals.
While many of the Project 2025 proposals are inspired by Trump, they are being echoed by GOP rivals Ron DeSantis and Vivek Ramaswamy and are gaining prominence among other Republicans.
And if Trump wins a second term, the work from the Heritage coalition ensures the president will have the personnel to carry forward his unfinished White House business.
“The president Day One will be a wrecking ball for the administrative state,” said Russ Vought, a former Trump administration official involved in the effort who is now president at the conservative Center for Renewing America.
Much of the new president’s agenda would be accomplished by reinstating what’s called Schedule F — a Trump-era executive order that would reclassify tens of thousands of the 2 million federal employees as essentially at-will workers who could more easily be fired.
Biden had rescinded the executive order upon taking office in 2021, but Trump — and other presidential hopefuls — now vow to reinstate it.
“It frightens me,” said Mary Guy, a professor of public administration at the University of Colorado Denver, who warns the idea would bring a return to a political spoils system.
Experts argue Schedule F would create chaos in the civil service, which was overhauled during President Carter’s administration in an attempt to ensure a professional workforce and end political bias dating from 19th century patronage.
As it now stands, just 4,000 members of the federal workforce are considered political appointees who typically change with each administration. But Schedule F could put tens of thousands of career professional jobs at risk.
“We have a democracy that is at risk of suicide,” Guy said. “Schedule F is just one more bullet in the gun.”
The ideas contained in Heritage’s coffee-table-ready book are both ambitious and parochial, a mix of long-standing conservative policies and stark, head-turning proposals that gained prominence in the Trump era.
There’s a “top to bottom overhaul” of the Department of Justice, particularly curbing its independence and ending FBI efforts to combat the spread of misinformation. It calls for stepped-up prosecution of anyone providing or distributing abortion pills by mail.

“Punished for Dreaming…School Reform…”
Bettina Love, in a book about education published by Macmillan this month, calls out Koch and Gates, as superpredators. And, she includes the ed reforms of Obama and Milton Friedman as substantially responsible for a 2 trillion dollar negative impact on Black students. She lays blame on think tanks, rich families and foundations. She writes, “education reform merged with crime reform to pretty much dispose of us.”

Right wing Catholic, Paul Weyrich, co-founded the Heritage Foundation. Weyrich also co-founded the religious right and ALEC. His training manual is posted at Theocracy Watch. He called for parallel schools to destroy public schools. He was funded by Koch.

She’s a Notre Dame professor and good friend of Amy Comey Barrett. Barrett’s theocratic decision in the Biel v. St. James Catholic school case exempted religious schools from civil rights employment law. The Alliance for Catholic Education at Notre Dame regularly conducts summits for school choice. Catholic Conferences have lobbyists and voter mobilization efforts. The Conferences loudly and publicly proclaim their initiatives for school choice. Some of the Conferences have co-hosted school choice rallies with the Koch’s AFP.
Leonard Leo of the Federalist Society is right wing Catholic. He has 9 children. School choice governors who are right wing Catholic include at a minimum, DeSantis (attended Catholic schools prior to high school), Pillens, Dewine (8 kids), and Abbott.
In Ohio, after the state’s bishops publicly stated they had no position on an anti-democracy Issue on the ballot Aug. 8, the dioceses of the 3 major cities together spent $900,000 to promote the Issue. The dioceses were one of the top 5 funders.

Thank you for reading my comment. This morning I read the following by Kenan Malik, “It’s not our belief in God that defines our moral values, our morals shape the way we think about God.” The Social Gospel reflected a time period when politicians in power shared a viewpoint. That view prevented Americans during the Depression from suffering the fate of Ireland when 1,000,000 Irish died of starvation. Economic policies like those of Koch and the agenda of leaders of a dominant religious sect aligned to create Ireland’s great hunger. The country repeated a long pattern about which Jefferson warned his nation almost 100 years prior, in every country, in every age, the priest aligns with the despot. A majority population that believed in the Social Gospel also enabled the American middle class through enactment of labor legislation and progressive taxation.
We should all be concerned about the tag, “anti-Catholic.”
It stands as an impenetrable wall between the public’s ability to thwart and the success of a juggernaut of right wing legislative, judicial, and executive decisions i.e. the alliance among the religious right and wealthy libertarians like Koch.
Mary Jo McConahay in an interview about her book, “Playing God,” lamented that some will always be incapable of separating a Church’s political efforts from its religion.

DeSantis is definitely supportive of this plan. He stated that, if elected, he would expand the powers of the executive branch. He has also expressed his disdain for the “bloated federal bureaucracy.” The GOP has long range plans to foist authoritarianism on the American people without the guardrails that protect democracy.

I’m not surprised.
Current federal employees will not be replaced by real conservatives. They will be replaced with Traitor Trump’s loyalist fascist loving MAGA lunatics, that will think just like Marjorie Taylor Greene.
Still, the only way Traitor Trump can win the 2024 election is by cheating, doing what he has been accusing Democrats of doing for years. Trump’s BIG LIE would become true but he’d be the fraudster who pulled it off, not Biden.
If that happens, there will be a cleansing. What monsters like Stalin did and what Putin is doing. Those deemed to be enemies of the Trump State will be rounded up and executed or sent to prison, probably somewhere in labor camps along the north coast of Alaska where they will all freeze solid in winter.

Please, good sir, how do you explain the fact that Trump’s legal efforts to invalidate the 2020 election was rejected in 60 different Court cases, including courts where the judge was appointed by Trump, and twice by the US Supreme Court, despite its 6-3 conservative majority.
Where is the evidence? Not enough for any of 60 courts.

It is more than the above because of what it plans for the LGBTQ community. The Mandate for Leadership” makes eradicating LGBTQ people from public life its top priority. Its No. 1 promise is to “restore the family as the centerpiece of American life and protect our children.” They are explicit in how they plan to do so, as you’ll see in the paragraph below. They plan to proceed by declaring any and all LGBTQ content to be pornographic in nature.
“Pornography, manifested today in the omnipresent propagation of transgender ideology and sexualization of children, for instance, is not a political Gordian knot inextricably binding up disparate claims about free speech, property rights, sexual liberation, and child welfare. It has no claim to First Amendment protection. Its purveyors are child predators and misogynistic exploiters of women. Their product is as addictive as any illicit drug and as psychologically destructive as any crime. Pornography should be outlawed. The people who produce and distribute it should be imprisoned. Educators and public librarians who purvey it should be classed as registered sex offenders. And telecommunications and technology firms that facilitate its spread should be shuttered.”
It’s also arguable that LGBTQ parents would be subject to arrest, imprisonment, and being put on sex-offender registries for “exposing children to pornography” simply by being LGBTQ and having children.
Dame Magazine.
This is a threat to my son, his spouse and children. I and many others will have to protect them. I will never accept living as a theocracy. This will probably lead to a Civil War. There is no way many states will enforce such Federal Laws, such as California, Illinois and New York. These ideas are truly frightening. If Trump becomes president, it will be the end of our democracy. People like us must vote.
