The New York Times reports that the Proud Boys, the white nationalist group of the far-right, is now using its members to protest mask mandates at local school board meetings and other local events. Their presence will probably cause some people to leave their school board position or not to run. But their presence makes it all the more imperative that concerned parents and other citizens run for school board, show up for school board meetings, and support candidates who want to make local schools better.
They showed up last month outside the school board building in Beloit, Wis., to protest school masking requirements.
They turned up days later at a school board meeting in New Hanover County, N.C., before a vote on a mask mandate.
They also attended a gathering in Downers Grove, Ill., where parents were trying to remove a nonbinary author’s graphic novel from public school libraries.
Members of the Proud Boys, the far-right nationalist group, have increasingly appeared in recent months at town council gatherings, school board presentations and health department question-and-answer sessions across the country. Their presence at the events is part of a strategy shift by the militia organization toward a larger goal: to bring their brand of menacing politics to the local level.

I really hope public schools aren’t paying any of these folks. I can give it to them free- the one and only answer to every question is “privatize”. They don’t have anything else.
Unless it’s “hooray for standardized tests!” and we’re already paying contractors for that. Redundant.

In an attempt to discover the answer, I Googled “Who is helping Trump the most to spread his BIG LIE,” and the first link that popped up on the first page (out of more than 26,000,000 results), was an AD paid for by “Save American Joint Fudnraing Committee PAC. The headline for this AD said, “Joe Biden is a Disaster – Trump Forever.”
That AD came before the first hit from the New Yorker reporting on “The Secret Source Who Helped Fule Trump’s Big Lie.”
Does anyone know how much it costs to pay Google to place an AD (no matter what it says) before the results of a Google search so that AD appears first?
After that AD, all of the links on the first page of that search were from major traditional media sources.

This is just one more obvious, predictable and standard tactic to prepare for the quick normalcy that will occur when the American Gleichschaltung takes place. Public acts of intimidation can be allowed to happen depending on the laws and how they are interpreted. By using the right of freedom of assembly at this public meeting to “support” parents, they are laying the ground for a multi-tier system of governing, regulations, and justice. Let’s look at a couple of scenarios to understand how this might work.
In scene one, the play will be short, because if there might be black counterparts, violence to quell their threat will find legal justification in how the laws are or are not enforced. The second scene is more complicated and no longer unimaginable, it is what the proud boys at this meeting and their allies are hoping to achieve.
Imagine, if you will (too funny), a school board meeting which dismisses CRT protests as the propaganda they are and, before they move to the next order of business, serious fighting breaks out between the proud boys and the local police assigned to protect the meeting. They overwhelm the police force, declare the meeting to be in violation of the Constitution, and that they are exercising their rights of free speech to right an egregious wrong. Does anyone doubt that justice systems following the evolving Thomas/Alito Doctrine will conjure legal interpretations to justify acts like these? I have made the point often that in fascism, violence is an appropriate first resort in the law. In this case, violence against the state would be justified because the state was trying to enforce laws that, though not yet changed, were certainly so perverse, it was only a matter of time before they changed. This violent act actually moved this issue higher on the agenda and the defendants are to be thanked for their proactive protection of your values.
And it will be in civil law as well. This morning I delved into my trove of Victor Klemperer and found this tidbit from August 19, 1933, less than seven months after the Nazis took power. Note the speed: “There are no bankruptcies anymore–a National Socialist does not go bankrupt, everything like that is twisted around along with German law. A few days ago it was reported in the newspapers, forty-three percent fewer bankruptcy proceedings than under the former government!” This is why many whites rush toward the false promise of power offered by “the hollowed collegiality of shared skin”. Their democracy is all about who get the spoils.
Or worse, the police working in tandem with these groups, or providing backup.
They will be. It’s all about enforcing the same laws differently, based on the accepted privilege of the day. Beat up a lefty? Short probation. Look at a cop wrong? Sixty-to-ninety days. Beat up a righty? Throw away the key.
