Larry Buhl of Capital & Main reports on Betsy DeVos’s raid on federal funds intended for public schools and small businesses. Her cv overriding goal has been unwavering for at least 30 years: privatization of public schools.
She has no intention of letting a crisis go to waste.
Congress thought it was appropriating new money to help public schools, but DeVos has insisted that the money must be distributed by enrollment numbers, not by need or poverty.
Count on DeVos to put charters and voucher schools first and to disregard the public schools that enroll the vast majority of the nation’s students.

Once Trumpistan and his pompous gang of misfits is out of the White House, and that includes Betsy the Brutal, there will probably be a slew of court cases and “maybe” BB will end up having to pay back some of that money out of her billions.
No she won’t. She will involve the doctrine of sovereign immunity. Of course, if she were to have other consequences, I would not be unhappy . . . Now would others.
Can she GET any more villainous?
There are no limits to the corrupt and wicked like Betsy the Brutal. Just when you think they can’t get worse, they will.
Before Betsy the Brutal is done, she will need to have a squad of bodyguards around her for the rest of her life.

Charter schools are not ““better equipped to innovate and caringly respond to the pressing needs of students.” Is that why charters are known for dumping those that do not fit the one size fits all mold or those that are expensive to educate? That is Betsy’s ideological zeal speaking, not reality. Public school are far better prepared to address the varying needs of diverse students with professional teachers trained in their areas of expertise. DeVos knows nothing of the work public schools do, and she will never find out because she is biased.
Just another crass payout to the religious in an election season. Everything is transactional with these grifters. Betsy, Don et al love the Constitution when it enriches machine-gun companies or enables Soviet-style disinformation – not so much when it delineates the boundaries between church and state.
Correction: neither Don nor Betsy ever read the Constitution. It does not enable their graft and grift. They undermine it daily.
