This is a really great podcast that I enjoyed taping with brothers Mike and Fred Klonsky on their podcast “Hitting Left” while I was in Chicago. We borrowed time from our host Mario Smith, because the show occurred while Mario was on the air. Start with the photograph of the four of us holding baseball bats, the better to hit left with. Mike and Fred are veteran activists. While Mike was a leader of Students for a Democratic Society decades ago, I was a budding neoconservative. I remember reading about this fiery radical and never imagined that one day we would be friends. Fred and Mike asked some interesting questions, and it’s a wide-ranging discussion. Mario, a former art teacher in the Chicago Public Schools joined in. He referred to the”illustrious” Klonsky brothers, and so they shall remain. We had fun.

I listened to it while shredding old papers and walking on the treadmill. (We have really good rummage sales!) Again, a really informative conversation. I’m glad you got a chance to sit down with the “illustrious” Klonsky brothers and Mario Smith. Getting to talk with so many local actors is so important to spreading the message that real people are and can make a difference.

Am I hearing some remnants of congestion in your voice? Take care of yourself as you travel around. Pace yourself, and leave time for rest.
You mention disruption in the interview. It was ironic that in the debate, Buttigieg had written an essay on how much he admired Bernie Sanders when he was in school. By the time he finished his ivy league education, Buttigieg was working for McKinsey. These top tier schools preach disruption as a tool to generate profit. Then, they unleash them on the rest of us. I see it when I read my husband’s ‘Wharton’ magazine.

Fred,
I describe that conversation as a rollicking good time.
First time I ever used that word “rollicking.”

Fred is a scoundrel. A SCOUNDREL. I am leaving this remark just to annoy him.
