Our blog poet reflects on the meaning of the latest international test scores (PISA).
That’s a Moron
When the test hits your eye
Like an old PISA pie
That’s a moron
When the scores make you drool just like a pasta fazool
You’re a moron
When you dance down the street with a test as your beat
You’re insane
When you walk in a dream but you know you’re not dreaming signore
Scuzza me, but you see, back in old Napoli
You’re a moron
A moron, that’s a moron

wonderful change to the song
Off topic, Trump has the perfect lawyer testifying for him, Jonathan Turley, who pretends he’s not right wing and who thinks polygamy should be a right.
Another Trump lawyer, the one who took McGahn’s place, has 10 kids.

McGahn’s replacement, Pat Cipollone, founded the national Prayer Breakfast and he participates in the annual Red Mass with other influential, elite D.C. Catholics. His eldest daughter works for Laura Ingraham at Fox News. Prior to the WH, Cipollone worked as counsel for his law firm’s client, the Knights of Columbus.
Only 34% of the population want no separation between church and state, yet they have prevailed politically.

Ed reformers are reciting a version of “ed reform can’t fail, it can only BE failed”
“Richard Whitmire
Am I alone in puzzling over the headlines? Did the “reforms” fail, or were most of the “reforms” watered down/rejected and never truly tried. If the teaching corps had professionalized, and that not worked, then we would have a failed reform.”
I don’t know if all these test scores are valid, but ed reform chose to live by the standardized test so they have to die by them, too. They can’t tout test scores to promote the agenda and then decide the problem is no one effectively uses their brilliant ideas.
They utterly dominate elite political, policy and charitable org circles. At some point they have to own results. Blaming public schools for every problem in the country works really well until your agenda is adopted. Now all of a sudden it’s time to talk about the myriad and varied factors that could be in play. If they don’t want reductive measures used to evaluate THEIR work then why did they impose them on the work people in public schools do?

They’ve failed by their own invalid measures. And they’ve vastly devolved curricula and pedagogy in the process. Their answer: double down on the failure, and go to the second round, Disruption 2.0. Depersonalized education software, now with knowledge questions, fair and balanced administrative dashboard scorecards, and new scrubbing bubbles.

So ed reformers are claiming to be infallible? After all the chaos they have caused, that is very funny. They are still arrogant and clueless.

Many thanks for the chuckle to the Poet Laureate of the Resistance, SomeDAM!
To the tune of “Making Whoopie”
The children take
a round of tests,
and still we find
we’re not the best.
The rich inform us,
they must reform us
some more. They’re loopy.
A lotta VAM
and Common Core
haven’t changed
the kids’ test scores,
but they stand firm,
with tests and GERM.
They’re making loopy.

The “You’re insane” line got me good, like that line in The Tyger where ‘symmetry’ doesn’t rhyme with ‘eye’.

That was a nice touch, mimicking what happens there in the original song.

The original lyric was “you’re in love” so I thought “you’re insane” would be good.
Insane, I know.

PISA Scores Demonstrate that Ed Deform Is Strictly Bush League

Are you suggesting that Obama’s education policy was Bush league? Hard to tell the pigs from the men, I think.

Sadly, there was much in the Obama administration that was of precisely the same cloth and design as in the Bush administration. Would the conduct of the overseas wars have been any different? Certainly, education policy wasn’t. And it was Obama who gave us the Romney healthcare plan from Massachusetts as a DINO alternative to Medicare for all. It was also Obama who filled his cabinet with people from Goldman, Sachs and bailed out the big banks rather than ordinary homeowners. So much for “hope and change.”
